We all know the A's could thrive in Oakland with a state of the art destination ballpark near the waterfront and an ownership committed to winning.

Please join the effort right now to urge Major League Baseball and team ownership to keep the A's in Oakland! Please sign the petition along with your entire family at the web site for LetsGoOakland.com and send it to your friends and colleagues. The goal is get thousands of names on the petition so it cannot be ignored by MLB. There are already over 1000 supporters on the petition!

The ownership of the A's has said the team needs to move. They have stated there is no fan or business support in Oakland. Lets prove them wrong! Please sign the petition NOW.

Lets go A's!!

If you want the A's to stay in Oakland and once again become a world class franchise, please go to the website at letsgooakland.com. The goal is to get a new stadium built in Oakland which will help revitalize the franchise and be a catalyst to make the waterfront a dynamic growing part of Oakland.

The owner of the A's has stated in no uncertain terms that he wants to move the team out of Oakland. He has stated there is no business or fan support here. It is time we show that he is wrong. There is no downside in signing the petition if you are a fan!

The owners of the A's are actively negotiating with the City of San Jose. The Commissioner of MLB is a close friend of one of the owners of the A's. Unless we can all demonstrate that of course the team would thrive here with a new stadium and an ownership dedicated to winning, the team will be gone within 5 years. That is a fact. If not San Jose, the team will be sold to someone in a state like Texas.

Lets not debate this point. Support keeping the A's here and sign the petition!!!

I have been a season ticket holder for the past 20 years.

I was part of the packed houses who watched the team during the years the Haas' owned the team. Imagine what the Haas family could have done with revenue sharing!

Since the Haas' sold the team, the East Bay has gone through tremendous growth in population and wealth. The team should be thriving in Oakland, but....

The two owners after the Haas' have spent all their time bad mouthing the ball park, bad mouthing Oakland and getting rid of our best players. Neither of them has ever made a real attempt to build a fan loyalty or build a new ball park in Oakland.

The fans have not left the A's, the A's ownership has deserted the fans.

The A's had higher attendance than the Giants in 17 out of 25 years before Pac Bell was built! A new destination ball park in Oakland with ownership committed to winning will bring the crowds and success to the A's. A destination ball park will draw fans and business support from around the region. It will also drive economic growth in Oakland.

A's fans are incredibly loyal and itching for the team to see greatness again. The first step is to sign the petition to show MLB that we care.

Sign the petition now. If you care about the A's join us and say....lets go Oakland!

Thanks! We are now up to nearly 3,000 on facebook for lets go oakland and nearly 1,500 on the petition! This is our best shot to show MLB that with a new destination ball park in Oakland the fans would support the A's like we have done in the past. If you have not done so, please go the petition at the letsgooakland.com web site and sign and get your family, friends and colleagues to sign as well.

I've signed the petition, but I don't think it has much of a chance of reversing the apparent decision to move the team. Here's my take on the situation for what it's worth. I'm a long time season ticket holder and I live in Carson City, Nevada. I suspect that I attend a lot more A's games than many in the Oakland area who consider themselves "fans". For whatever reason(s) the Oakland/East Bay area community has collectively failed to support the A's at a level necessary to maintain a professional baseball team. There are some week night games where you could roll bowling balls down the aisles and not hurt anybody. I can only recall one sell out this past season (although there may have been more) and that was Ricky Henderson night. Having a MLB team in your community is like having custody of a treasure. However, as I've said, the collective custodianship has failed to maintain the treasure. Even the perennially lowly Royals draw better than the A's. Why? It seems they have a fan base that is willing to stick by the team through thick and thin. I have more fun watching winning baseball too, but it seems to me that we lack a significant core of support that is willing to pack the stadium regularly. San Jose is going to make a serious effort to get this franchise. Asking people to sign a petition is rather reflective of the overall problem - not enough serious interest to keep the team in Oakland. Your politicians and business leaders and entire community should be putting on a full court press to keep the team in Oakland. I don't see it from where I sit. Wish it were otherwise!

you are dreaming. i, too, would love to see the A's stay in Oakland. I will sign the petition. However, it is true that there is no corporate base on which to build on in Oakland. Other than a couple of years when the Haas family owned the team, the support has been poor. Look at the 70s championship teams. The A's could barely draw over 1 million. Second, the board of supervisors, having been burned by the Raiders is not willing to do anything, and there is no will whatsoever with the mayor. The A's will end up in San Jose. Done deal. Too bad.

Well, thanks for signing the petition!

Keep the faith. There is LOTs of activity going on behind the scene. In my view it is critical we show MLB that there is significant fan and business support for the A's. The petition will be discussed with and shown to MLB.

I also encourage everyone to go the facebook page for Lets Go Oakland and discuss your thoughts with other fans. Over 3000 people have signed up!!

The Haas years demonstrated how fans will support the team when they is an ownership committed to winning even without a great new stadium. If we can demonstrate fan and business support, it will be very difficult for MLB to allow the A's to go to San Jose. Remember, the Giants own the rights to San Jose so it is not a slam dunk they can move there even if they get a stadium deal with the City.

Oakland is the essentially the capital of the East Bay. There is great transportation...highways, BART, trains, ferries, busses.... all running through Oakland. There is a vibrant and strong business community in the East Bay which could support the A's. The team has never tried to market itself outside of Oakland. Since the Haas' sold the team, the owners have stated they can not draw in Oakland and sold all of our best players and bad mouthed Oakland the ball park.

Fans have not left the A's, the owners of the A's have left the fans!!

As a retired business exec who has gone to as many games in premium seats as any fan over the past 20 years, I am convinced that there would be tremendous business and fan support if we can get a Pac Bell like ball park in Oakland. There are sites that could work. We must first show MLB that we care. We need everyone to sign the petition and get their friends and relatives to sign. It CAN make a difference and convince MLB to work with the City to get a stadium deal done.

Thanks for caring. Lets go A's

Thanks for saving me from having to write the whole rebuttal.

Personally I don't really care if the A's are in Oakland or San Jose. (Actually San Jose is more convenient for me since I'd be working a few miles away). But the fact of the matter is the city of Oakland does have the financial means to do much to keep the A's in town. They have much bigger issues to deal with. As much as the petitioners want to send MLB a message to keep the A's in Oakland ultimately it's what's best for the club and MLB. Go to San Jose where there's a much larger market with more financial rewards? Or stay in Oakland and watch the decline continue.

ok, you are surely passionate. but where is the money gonna come from? it will not happen in Oakland. I'm sorry, but you are dreaming about something that will never happen. it will be san jose or nothing in northern california.

>>>it will be san jose or nothing in northern california<<<

This statement needs challenging.

Extend BART half a mile past the P'ton/Dublin station and build it there. That is in A's territory, on BART, near enough (I-680) to draw the imaginary San Jose fans as well as tapping into the Lathrop/Manteca/Tracy/Stockton metroplex (he snickered).

Any A's stadium not on a BART station is a violent slap in the face to any fan who has taken BART to a game.

Wow. This is the A's site and there is such skepticism!

The owners have stated that they will build a privately financed stadium in San Jose if the City can provide the land and infrastructure. They have stated that there are no sites available in Oakland so they have to go somewhere else. They are wrong.

There are in fact several sites in Oakland near the water that would work. If the owners would make an honest and concerted effort to work with the City. I believe the ball park could (and should) be in Oakland. I am convinced a destination stadium would transform A's attendance like Pac Bell did for the Giants (everyone seems to forget that NOONE went to Candlestick.....)

Neither Schott or the current ownership group ever wanted to put a ball park in Oakland. There goal was to drive down attendance to a point where they could say Oakland does not support the team. They have done a good job of that!

Sign the petition. What do you have to lose? I believe that if we get enough names, that MLB will have to give Oakland one final fair shot at putting together a stadium deal along the lines the A's have said they would build in San Jose.

We can do this if we stay together and believe. This is the one time we can all come together and make a statement. Sign the petition at letsgooakland.com

Please identify the sites in Oakland near the water that would work. The silence from the City of Oakland speaks volumes, while Mayor Chuck Reed of San Jose has identified their site for the A's and is in the process of purchasing the land, right next door to rail access, Dellums says nothing. If the politicians in Oakland want to keep one of the more storied franchises in major league history, they need to fight for it. I hear what you are saying, believe me, and I live in Sunnyvale attending 20+ A's games annualy since 1969. A waterfront site would be great, overlooking the bay, but exactly where? The time for talking is past, action is what is needed, Oakland must present a concrete proposal, no more meetings and asking for co-operation from the A's. If Dellums were to go before the camera's and say, "here is the land, waterfront land with a great view, and the infrastructure, all provided by the City of Oakland, signed, sealed, and delivered," that would put immense pressure on MLB and Fisher. Maybe Dellums realizes Oakland does not have the financial means to keep the A's, but at least fight for them. I ask again, please identlfy exactly the sites in Oakland near the water, sites that the City of Oakland would donate along with
needed infrastructure.

I have been driving up to Oakland for years to see the A's, and if a new stadium was in Oakland I would still drive up, so it really does not make any difference to me. Counting on the Giants so called "rights' to stop the San Jose move may work out, but then what? Fisher will not come begging to Dellums, once again, it is up to The City of Oakland, right now.

Lets all sign the petition and stay tuned :)

As far as San Jose is concerned, until the Sharks became a consistent winner, they were in financial trouble and their attendance was mediocre. San Jose does not have a waterfront or the BART system that Oakland does. The team belongs here!

Pac Bell proves that a destination stadium can change a franchise in the Bay Area. The Oakland waterfront is like 15 miles from Pac Bell. The A's could be a tremendous success with a new stadium in Oakland.

I believe the first step is to demonstrate support by signing the petition. Over 4000 people are now on the lets go oakland facebook page. This is a major show of support and we are just beginning. Fans want someplace to show their support. We are providing it!

I'll give you an A for effort. But as previously mentioned if you want to show that you're serious about keeping the A's in Oakland get people to fill the seats. Getting people to sign a petition is easy. This requires no commttment. Filling the seats is another story...

Everyone keeps blaming the owners for being cheap and for trading away players. But when Schott had the team they were winning successive titles, but the seats were still empty. Not as empty as now but was far from full.
