    • How 'bout Ortiz for Anderson and Powell???

The Sox need another lefty in their rotation and Anderson seems to have potential. Powell would be a good backup for Martinez and you guy could definitely use some offense. Giambi, Halliday and Cabrerra didn't work out all that well for you and Ortiz (even with his low average this year) still had 28 home runs and 100 RBI's - which is better than anyone you've got now. You could put Cust in the outfield and make Ortiz your regular DH? No??????

WATA you? Crazy? Or do you think we're stupid? Why would we want a waay overpriced, washed up steroid baby on the downhill side of his career? The Sox are stuck with him.

I'm not sure if you just haven't done your homework or what. But you apparently know very little about the A's and their philosophy. There is absolutely no way the A's would give up Anderson AND Powell for Ortiz. I’d doubt we’d even trade Powell straight up for Ortiz. As an infrequently used back up Powell put up numbers that would be comparable to Ortiz’s if given the same number of AB. If you want Anderson you'd basically have to at least give up all of your top 5 prospects. That's assuming it's even enough to get BB's attention. Honestly if Epstein sent your proposal to Beane I'd doubt he'd even get a return call other than to ask if it was April Fools’ Day.

You value Ortiz more than anyone on the A’s would. He’s not the same player he was 4-5 years ago. Why would the A’s want to acquire a declining player with a huge contract when we are rebuilding? Plus with the space in the Coliseum his numbers would surely drop even more. He’d be no better than Cust who most on this forum does not want brought back. Your suggestion of putting Cust in the outfield is too funny considering what a butcher he was. He will probably not see the outfield in Oakland again unless he’s playing for a visting team.

So to answer your last question: I will tell you NO WAY He!! this deal will ever happen. As soon as I finish laughing at your proposal……

Here's a counter proposal for you:

You give us Ortiz, pick up his entire contract. You get Anderson (Louie) and Powell (Colin). This way we'll both get someone whose overweight and in decline, and sometimes funny. And you get Powell who may yet make another run for office.....

I am a Red Sox fan, I am dumb and know nothing about the game. I play fantasy baseball and finish last every year, I don't know the name Marty Barrett and bought my first Red Sox hat in 2003. It's one of those cool ones that looks like it's been worn for 20 years, frazzled at the end of the bill, even though it's brand new. It's soooo cool pretending to be a fan of a team!

Now, for the real world. David Ortiz? Dude did roids and his entire career can be attributed to it. He's brutal now and funny enough, Jack Cust has more value. So yeah, trade one of the BEST young arms in the game and a pretty dang good backup catcher for some washed up roid head? No thanks. Pick up a newspaper, read that the Red Sox are interested in Rich Harden, Mark Mulder, Roy Halladay and Felix Hernandez.

There's about no one in the Red Sox system worth Brett Anderson alone. So no thank you. Put down the bong.

You sure about that? I keep hearing references to a crack pipe, and think our friend's been over-using it.

Dude must think we just fell off a turnip truck or something.

Not unusual though, considering his team is facing a meltdown of huge proportions.

If the Red Sox paid Ortiz's salary, I would trade, if anyone at all, maybe Kyle Middleton for him. Probably no one though.
