Myers is an @ss, but Hamels should expect people to be a little ticked off after his "I can't wait for it to end" comment.

I've never really liked Myer's pitching enough to put up with his off the field idiocy.

I don't think the Phillies had planned to resign Myers anyway, he has been trouble for a while for the Phillies. However, I really don't have a problem with Myers calling Hamels out on his statement. I mean, they are in the World Series and Hamels is acting like a child and should be focused on what he can do to help the team now and stay positive until the end of the WS. During hte offseason then he can make whatever statement he wants.

Just my 2 cents.

I was thinking the same thing...

He is no doubt, but I will give it to him that at least he cares and is an intense player. He wouldn't have the "oh well we just lose our 8th game in a row attitude."

I completely agree.

Myers is a clown. I would have preferred either someone else saying something to Hamels or for it to have been handled in the clubhouse.

I hope we sign that clown....

Looking back on my post, I wonder if Berkman would say something like that. I guess it wouldn't be as bad because I figure Lance would also go off on how terrible he is.

I'm not as enthusiastic about him as you are. He would be an okay 3rd or 4th starter, I guess.

I like him because he has the tools, relatively young (29), could be relatively inexpensive. I think he was signed under Wade's watch, thus the probability is higher. Not to mention his name starts with "B", albeit it is his first name.

The Astros have a good pitching coach now, thus it something to get excited about. I still can't believe they wasted $3M on Moehler. They could have opted for the $250K buy out, and played the market. If all else failed, probably signed Moehler later in the OS for half the price.

I guess all we can do is wait for the OS to begin, and hope the Astros sign one of the top 3B FAs, a legitimate #3 FASP, depth to the bench and probably good bullpen arm.

I can see where you're going with that. I don't follow him that much, but isn't he a bit hot and cold?

I'd be okay with re-signing Moehler if he'd be the long reliever AND they don't lower the payroll. Blum was an okay deal. Moehler's is a tad high.

That's a lot to buy. I think we should try younger arms in the bullpen. Cutting ties with Brocail was a great move. A legit starting 3rd baseman adds some depth to the bench already by relegating Blum and Keppinger there. Another lefty bat wouldn't hurt, though. Replace Erstad with a guy like Hinske, if feasible. It's time to stop putting off adding a solid pitcher to the rotation.

Berkman would have more room to say that to a teammate being an elite performer for years as he has been. Myers didn't have a lot of room to call Hamels out, but then again he does because he shows up to play 110% win or lose. I guess I'm kind of conflicted on the situation. But Hamels should have been sent home already IMO. He has been useless in the postseason and if he doesn't want to be there I'm sure someone else would rather pitch in his place. Namely JA Happ who should have started in his place previously.

Maybe I haven't read the same stuff, but it seemed that Hamels was down on himself because of how his season and postseason went. Nothing I've read made it sound like he didn't want the team to succeed....nor did any of it sound like Hamels was quitting. He just seemed discouraged....as well he should be.

If I had a bad year, I'd be ready for a fresh start too.

All that being said, maybe the Phillies will want to trade him...............................

It seemed like that to me, too, but it could have been better said. Also, someone other than Myers should have said something to Hamels.
