I still remember Lidge saying "Forget about that sh*t (with the Astros)!" during his post-WS interview.

Oh well... I guess it's the karma...

i don't dislike lidge, but it was sort of satisfying to see him continue to stink it up.

I wonder if any other reliever has been tagged with three WS losses. That has to be rare...

Edit: I just looked it up...

"With his third World Series loss, Lidge has tied George Frazier and Eddie Watt for the most by a relief pitcher in World Series history. He's also tied five other pitchers with the most losses as a relief pitcher in postseason history (four)."

Well..once again...we got the better end of the trade with Philly that got us Michael Bourn. Bad Lidge stinks up another one..I see he is his normal self again...

Why?

it just gives me reassurance that we made the right move trading him to philly. whether it's mental or physical, he clearly has some problems. i was originally opposed to sending him away for bourn, especially considering how unproven michael was, but it just may work out to our advantage.

I thought it was kind of cool just to add another closer to the list of those that have imploded in the postseason. It was also a little silly to me how the announcers started talking about Lidge's "resurgence" after only four decent innings in the postseason...

More ammo for the idea that the closer position is over-rated.

There is only one Mariano Rivera. Until another pitcher comes along that can saw off opposite hitter's bats and survive with only 1 pitch for over a decade, the closer position will be over-rated.

I don't harbor any ill will towards Lidge. In fact, he seemed to be a class act in Houston and towards the fans. Out of all the closers imploding, I kind of wish Lidge had better luck.

I'd rather have Bourn cut his SO below 100 and raise the OBP north of .375 instead of watching Lidge crater for Philly.

I will never understand how anyone can get such pleasure out of seeing someone struggle. One thing you can't take away from Lidge is he had a perfect season last year and has a WS ring. Since we've never won one, I wouldn't gloat.

I don't think anyone has anything against Lidge personally; it's just a matter of liking to see the mighty fall sometimes. Tons of people on here love to see the Cubs lose. To me that's a similar concept.

I agree, but I was also hoping that Lidge got it done yesterday because I don't like the Yankees.

Not the same at all. Lidge is a former Astro. Watching the Cubs fail year after year has become a very enjoyable national pasttime.

"Lidge is a former Astro."

Does that mean that every fan has to be loyal to him forever? Daryle Ward was a former Astro that played for the Cubs last season. Was it OK to root against the rest of the Cubs, but not him?

I understood your point, I just don't agree. You said you didn't understand how people can get pleasure out of seeing him struggle, and I explained that.

I'm sure she's just tired of people going all High School Musical when he struggles on the mound.
