Could be an interesting option for us.

He's coming off an injury and some missed time, so he shouldn't be expensive at all. He's only 29-years old, and has these career numbers:

40-31 4.03 ERA (109 ERA+) 1.383 WHIP

Before his injury he could be counted on for 25 starts and 150 IP. Not amazing of course, and he does have some health concerns...but he should be pretty inexpensive and he is young enough to bounce back from the problems if they got things fixed on him. He's also another lefty we could put in the rotation.

Wandy
Roy
Norris
Lowry
Paulino/Moehler

If healthy, it could be a pretty cost-effective solid rotation. (Adding him AND a pitcher like Lackey would be orgasmic, of course.....but I'm thinking more and more that the chances of us spending that kind of money are dwindling.)

OH EM GEE SON, no way. We can't sine him. His OBP is too low, and I don't care that he's a picture!!!!!

The fact that your first reaction was "Heh, cool" makes me worry for future NICU inhabitants. :-P

Nonsense. I adore babies. It's adults that I can't stand. :)

It depends what his overall diagnosis is by medical examiners on these injuries. If the guy is good to go and hasn't lost much on his pitches, he could be a steal. If he is damaged goods he could be Brandon Backe/Mike Hampton/all of the above. Not a bad guy to look into though.

Well sure, I don't want to buy damaged goods.

Yeah I mean...at this point anything would be an upgrade over what we're looking at (Paulino, Wright etc.) If the price is right, jump on him obviously...but the price will be more than nothing, which will be far too expensive for Drayton's stingy ***.

"If he is damaged goods he could be Brandon Backe/Mike Hampton/all of the above."

Backe would have had to have been decent BEFORE he was injured to qualify to be in this discussion; the injuries had nothing to do with it, Backe was just utter garbage.

I'm not giving up on Paulino, but it would be nice to pick up some more arms.

I don't know, I can't tell if YOU'RE kidding or not, since I have never misspelled either of those words and generally have spelling and grammar skills far superior to most humans and it's pretty much my sole redeeming quality and I will be quite hurt if you don't at least recognize that much about me.

I hope Felipe P. can make the progress that Wandy R. did. One of our rotation slots is secure if he does.

It depends on the health of that arm. He lost a few ticks of velocity in that last season, and he didn't throw all that hard in the first place. If he's able to regain a bit of his old zip, I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him.

I agree. I do see a lot of the same qualities in Paulino that I saw in Rodriquez years ago.
