Down from the original 3 yr $39MM deal.

We could easily offer Nap a two or three year deal couldn't we?

Or is the Scioscia/Napoli issue too broken to fix now?

Only in a parallel universe.

In all seriousness where would he play? Scioscia has committed to Iannetta and we already have a pretty good firstbaseman.

He didn't like playing here, so no way

Yep, and I doubt he'd want to play for Scioscia again. No way.

C, 1B, DH.

Apparently the sticking point is his hip, with the Sox antsy concerning its long term health.

I can't believe Nap hasn't been swooped up by other catcher needy teams like the Yankees.

I've always liked Napoli's game.

No one really knows the severity of Nap's hip problem. It is reasonable to assume from the long stalemate that there are differing medical opinions. But today in the Boston press there seems to be a consensus that Nap and the Sox will come to an agreement sometime next week

Bad luck for Nap that he wasn't a free agent following his world beater 2011 season.

Came this close to winning the 2011 WS MVP.

No doubt. Great series. BTW I honestly feel a lot of his leg/hip problems have their origin in that incredibly bad ankle injury in Game 6 which really had not healed properly by ST in 2012.

Yep sure was, not too mention the fact that he was still able to pick off Holliday at 3rd from his knees.

Why would the Angels offer 2-3 years for a broken player? The Angels thought he had arm/shoulder problems when they traded him and now his hip is a problem. Do you want to give a longer contract to someone another team is trying to get out of?

I'm still trying to figure out why the Angels would want Napoli at all, even if he was healthy. There is no real position he excells at defensively, he is too streaky a hitter to be reliable, and the Angels already have another player like that in Mark Trumbo that is way cheaper.

Sox signed him to a 1 Year - $5 Million dollar deal.

Wow! A $34MM hit for Nap. He must be in pretty bad shape.

Yeah its his hip, Its a $5m deal with incentives that can boost his salary to $13M. I like this better than the 3yr/$39M deal.
