    • Will there be a flood of tears when Angel FA's leave?

I can hear the belly-aching readying to start. The crying towels and hankies are getting poised. The "Say in ain't so" folks are starting to clamber up on their own bandwagon. Remembering only the so called happy happy side of those players. The downsides scarcely considered by these wayward Pollyanna's. They who choose to view the baseball world through a cockeyed optimist viewpoint. Like it's all good and dammit don't tell me otherwise. So when some of our formers board their buses for nether territories, oh the shock and chagrin will begin. Cover your ears. Cover your children folks. Prepare for the end-of-the-worlders. This may not be pretty.

Nope. Every one of those free agents are expendable. No tears here.

I will be pretty bummed when Lackey leaves. And Figgy, since he's one of only parts left over from the '02 series.

And yes, there's a pretty darn good reason to have tear when these people leave. They're the only ones who know what it feels like to win it all without $100 million dollars. that's something Moreno hasn't figured out, and he has the $100 million to spend.

I don't see how the Angels maintain their economic structure if they re-sign Lackey and Figgins. They also have arbitration-eligible players who will get big raises.

So it is the ticket prices or re-tool with younger, cheaper replacements.

Get out your hankies.

Good post.
You must be liked here.
There are MANY many other posters, who would have been attacked and told to leave if they posted the exact message.
Congrats.
I agree 100%

The only FA I would be sad to see go is Lackey. For the Angels *NOW* its about the postseason. They have a good core on the rise. Figgins in my book would be the first to go. Reason #1 - Wood is there to take his place. #2 He is by far the biggest choke artist, underperformer in the postseason I have ever seen. He doesnt handle pressure. I would love the Angels to go after Holliday or Jason Bay....or Both. Abreu would be a plan B , he slowed at the end and in the playoffs. Looked bad at times in the postseason. He and Figgins ruined the chances with their lack of production.

I don't think you all saw it, but Lackey had one foot out the door this last year. He put it out there for the takers. Times are bad now, he will IMO, sign with Tex for less money we offered. When he talked, who or what came forth out of his mouth? Lackey. Go Halos Let's go father than you've been in 2010!

You forgot Scotty

Why would there be tears shed if these players choose to move on? I don't root for the name on the back of the jersey, I root for the name on the front.

Hi bek, remember me?! Hows it been!?

I agree with what you said about rooting for the name in the front but you should also kind of root for the name on the back because they are the ppl that make part of the team.

I root for the team as a whole though. I don't root for any one player - I cheer for each of them, and don't have any favorites - not anymore!

Did you used to have a different sign on?

I dont see whats wrong about having a favorite player, mines is Matt Kemp...but also i understand that you dont like to chose someone over somebody else, bek.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having favorite players. It's normal to feel that way.

It wouldn't make me happy either, but better than seeing him as a Boston Redsox.

I'll miss Lackey and actually Figgins to a lessor degree, but I'll get over it. Most of us are seasoned fans and expect turnover, especially with the Yanks and Red Sox around to take the best players.
