    • How much did Figgins hurt his FA value by his Sept, Oct #'s?

Was Figgins injured? Was the mounting pressure of September and October play-off baseball maybe too much for him? Did Figgins keep a partial eye all year on his impending free agency? Did he feel even greater pressure to mega produce? And hence he ended up doing near nada again for yet another disappointing post season. Do any of you believe he felt none of this and was merely slumping? The main premise of this thread is how and in which ways this will compute with his money numbers he'll be offered. I see him as a potential fit in NYY land. I know he has some interest there. The ChiSox' GM Kenny Williams has long wished to acquire him. But Fig is older now and the Sox are trying to now reverse their aging process. He also might be a fit in Minnesota who are always seeking a 3B where Gardenhire covets defense and speed. Seeking all views on Fig's new digs.

It will affect the bottom line on any FA contract. There is no doubt about it. Teams - particularly contending teams - would be imbeciles to not consider his failures in postseason when trying to ink him to a deal.

I don't think it will affect his value. If you play in enough postseasons you will have a good one. Take Barry Bonds and ARod for example. I don't think they choked when they didn't hit. They just had bad series.

I think several teams want to sign Figgy but he probably cost himself one year off his contract and 2 million per year less that what he could have received if he played well this post season.

"I don't think it will affect his value. If you play in enough postseasons you will have a good one."

But Figgins has now appeared in 5 postseasons (7 series) as a regular and played 35 postseason games. That is a valid enough sample to suggest this is more than just having a "bad series." In 122 ABS, Figgins has a postseason BA of .172 and a .469 OPS. He has struck out 35 times, or once every 3.5 times up, and only walked 6 times in all of those games.

For a team looking to Figgy as a "sparkplug" to lead off for them, they would have to be concerned about his postseason failures. And more concerning is that Figgy seems to have more of a "deer in the headlights" look than the old, confident smiling Figgy. He just does not seem comfortable in October.

I've always liked Figgins, but even I have to admit I will not be sorry to see him leave given his October failures. Whereas guys like Eckstein and Glaus and Spiezio thrived in the postseason, Figgins just does not instill any confidence in me.

Figgins Future contracts will be affected pretty much...the guy was hitting like there was no tomorrow until pressure came in...and that is when you have to hit the most....I understand the pitching is 3 times better in postseason games, but still....you have to hit some ...he didn't , at all..!
My personal opinion....he is gone.
by the way...The CWS wanted him badly before they found out Beckham was " awesome"
which to me , he is not....

Aybar will be 100% better as the leadoff and he can bunt too.

Unfortunately, Figgins is rated as a "B" free agent. That means a second round pick.

I am glad to see him go just the same.
