It is MUCH easier to win division titles since it went to three divisions. Back in the days of Downing Carew, Grich, and Baylor, winning the AL West meant something. You had the Kansas City Royals with George Brett to contend with. There was none of the wild card b.s.

Most years the Angels only have one other team to challenge them in the AL West now. To keep hanging division banners is goofy.

UCLA basketball has been to 17 Final 4's. Most schools hang Final 4 banners. UCLA does not. UCLA has won 29 PAC 8 later PAC 10, basketball titles. They do not hang conference championship banners. They only hang NCAA championship banners and they have 11 of them.

If Arte wants to be the Yankees of the West, he needs to act like it.

UCLA basketball and Yankees baseball have gone all the way so many times that they can fill their facility with these alone. Very few others can.

"HALO fans need to stop raving over AL West..."

Huh? Did this tired topic need yet another new thread because it died a fitting death in another one?

Make that a FEW other ones, actually. This topic has been thoroughly worked over... and over again.

Bruinswin just likes the attention, and can't formulate an orginal thought that makes any sense.

Especially given that as he well knows, someone else already started the same thread days ago.

We needed two of them?

"Next year's A.L. West Champions! "

or the definately the following year or maybe the year after that one or maybe sometime down the road.

I know I know, you have such a great young team with the potential to flat out dominate this division and win multiple World Series titles for many years to come. Just you wait and see.

LOL! you're still the Rangers

No dude, I totally agree with you. And you can see from the responses you got, the reason why management is content with just building a team to win the weakest division in baseball, but not one to win the World Series. Sorry, your just like me and don't get goose bumps when they raise that division flag on opening day. See the Yankees management tolerate nothing but a World Series appearance- because thats what the fans expect also.

Seriously, did Arte ever say he wanted to be the Yankees of the West?

"They only hang NCAA championship banners and they have 11 of them. "

Yeah, that's all well and good. But you can only hang what you've got.

Hanging one flag just isn't very awe-inspiring.

Once we've got half a dozen World Championships or so, then maybe talking about taking down division banners makes sense.

No way....

1979 is a special year. No one who has been an Angel fan during that period would advocate not remembering 79.

The goal is to win your division. Then you "hope" you win three series. And since the Yankees and Boston will almost always have twice the payroll, that's going to be pretty hard.

The AL West has won 1 World Series in the last 20 years. Is they guy expecting more than four banners in next 60 years?

Again.. oh brother.
