    • Will Bay and Holliday re-up with current teams?

IMO both will be energetically courted by their current clubs. (Red Sox and Cards respectively) Both will receive the 'full court press' by their current teams during the exclusive negotiating window period. But IMO both will wait to listen to what the Yankees will have to offer. I believe the Yankees will wish to sign both players. And money not being a great object in NY they will. Hence upgrading their outfield power-wise. These two might pop a few out of the Yank Stadium band-box. The NYY may be marching to a new dynasty in the upcoming years. If the Yankees steal the World Series this year they may start just lining them up. Just like they owned the last century. MLB might be heading for the 'dark ages' again where the NYY run the baseball world.

Holliday won't because he is a Bora$ client.

I don't know who represents Bay.

A lot of people forget that the Yankees have gone 99% of the '09 season without their 2nd best SPer, Chinh-ming Wang, and he'll be back in their rotation in 2010.

In '07 and '08 he combined for 38 W's so he's at least their #2 if not 1a to Sabathia.

Now that their pitching is equal to their offense they'll be around for a while.

BTW, I believe both Bay and Holliday resigning with their old clubs is much better than 50-50.

Bay sounds like a guy who wants out. RS offering 14M, he could do better elsewhere.

I don't know, Bay seems very happy to me in Boston. I think he'll test the open market to get the Red Sox to up their bid.

We could get him by spending a whole lot more than the Red Sox, which would still be worth it.

Holliday will sign with the Yankees or Mets, whichever team goes after him harder. See, with the Red Sox re-signing Bay and Matsui leaving- they suddenly have a "hole" and need to fill it by overspending for a Boras client.

No reason they both could play for the Yankees if they team wants either of them. All the Yankees have to do is write a check.

Bay won't win gold glove and maybe a DH soon. So that would have to factored in I guess.

I think the Yankees will imporve their team again this offseason and try to be in a class of their own. I know it su-Ks.

The Yankees will go all out to sign a LF, either Bay or Holliday and Boston has to keep pace by signing the player who the Yankees do not sign. Jason Bay wants a contract of at least 5 years and Holliday is looking for a 7 years $140 mil plus deal. Jason Bay is only 16 months older than is Holliday. I do believe that Boston will bend as far as Jason Bay goes and offer him a 5 year deal. The problem will be the money.

Bora$ clients want the most money and that usually means switching teams.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Yankees sign Holliday and Lackey. They can afford it. Keep Joba in the bullpen. Damon may have earned himself another contract with the way he is playing in the playoffs.

Lemme say up front, I am NYY fan. And at this point the ONLY team the Yankees have to worry about are the Angels. You guys get a real no. 2 and it's really scary. Sorry, it's not Kazmir.

Wasn't worried about the Twins, and never worried about the Phillies. But, the Angels scared me - every game was a gut-wrencher with them. Any team that can sweep the Suxx is scary.

Yanks are giving 2nd thought about Matsui. He can barely walk - but he can hit. He's a permanent DH. Damon probably leaves.

Holliday's agent is seeking Manny type money, or $20 million a year. Anyone who saw him stiff in Oakland, knows AAAA, i.e. the NL, is where he needs to stay. Not that playing in Colorado or the bandbox in St. Louis and hitting in front of Pujols helped his numbers at all, LOL.

I think it's more like we don't have a ace.

I think Lackey is a very good top of the order guy and likely a #2 guy if we had a true ace like Cliff Lee or Sabathia.

I just can't wait to see Holliday struggle in New York. Well, struggle 99% of the time then deliver for one season in his 6th or 7th season in his new contract. THEN he'll get worshiped- guess thats Yankees baseball.
