Chappy has 2 pitches - fastball and slider. Hitters have figured him out and we need to move on to another closer. We had one that got injured and out for the season. Time to trade for someone. Not sure I want Capps.

I don't recall ever seeing him throw a change-up. Maybe I missed them while I was throwing up.

He has 3 pitches actually. Fastball, slider, and a changeup

************

FOUR, if you include his now-famous 2 RUN HOME RUN pitch.

First put Sean Marshall back as the closer until Walt can get:
1. Coco
2. Kyle Farnsworth
3. Brett Myers
4. Grant Balfour
5. Houston Street

Or trade with Boston for Daniel Bard who Boston sent down to Pawtucket because they want him to be a starter.

I'd like them to try Simon. The guy has nasty stuff and since that ugly first appearance he's been lights out.

Someone else started a thread on him, but it was not serious, so I am putting up a serious thought here - what about trying to get Clippard? He is a quality relief pitcher and Storen comes off the DL soon. Or if not Clippard, then what about Storen. Either one is going to be pricy, but I am betting the Nats are going to look at dealing one of them for an upgrade somewhere.

"Chapman is just not even Chapman anymore. I saw him through some breaking balls mixed in with his heaters. Yet STILL, they score. His velocity was even back up again reaching at times 101-102 mph. I'm not even sure what's wrong with him anymore. He looks like a softball pitcher out there. "

And you want to make him a starter.

Nah, he's got 4 pitches: fastball, slider, church league slo-pitch and the ever lovin' gopher ball

It is confusing to see him throw 98-99 and watch his pitches get wacked like it was a non-moving, flat 85 mph fastball right down broadway but here's what I think it is. the hitters have the timing down, and they just swing down the middle of the plate and voila, even they appear surprised. Were used to hitters swinging and not even being close, or if they accidentally do make contact, it's just a weak pop up or weak tapper to the infield somewhere. So I think Chapman is going to have to adjust, and start pitching instead of throwing. Anyone blessed with his stuff, even on the nights his velocity his down, should be able to have an idea where their pitches are going. And he seems more contempt on throwing strikes, so I'm not worried about him adjusting, and I think Dusty can use Marshall and possibly Masset when he returns once he shows he's back to form. Then when Chapman makes his adjustments, he can take back his spot as closer, he's gunna have to knock a couple guys down and take control of homeplate so when he throws 98 mph gas upstairs a little, the hitters won't stand a chance

I never realized until yesterday that the French called Larry Walker, Larry Walk-hair

But then again, I shouldn't trust the French from the Cowboy

Oh wait, were talking about Chappy, he went to an orgy but only watched. That was the smart and healthy thing for the young man. Wait a minute, what was he doing there? Ah who cares, just get guys out...

Yeah right now Chapman whne he gets in in the strike zone it is usually right in the heart of the plate. Dont matter how hard you throw if you put it right in the heart of the plate for a big league hitter. A little effective wildness and brush some guys back is what he needs to do to get guys intimidated again, he has seemed to have lost that against most hitters now. I think he will get it figured out, but he going to have to work the corners and get the ball down in the zone. He has been high of late, so it should not be hard to get him back on track.
