Looks like Berkman is going to join Carpenter. Who is going to be next, Beltran? Freese? Holliday? How about a wild card pick like Salas?

That's the only thing that can prevent them from making the playoffs this year. Too many old, injury-prone guys on that team. I could see them fading in August and September.

Yeah that team is solid if the regulars can play everyday.

Freese is listed as day to day because he can't grip a bat. He must of got his finger caught on his beer can when he was drinking and driving.

Wainwright's ERA is 9.88. I guess he's been struggling a bit.

wainwright was dominant in spring training, and looked decent in his start against milwaukee but has looked horrible in his 2 starts since, we are 0-3 in his starts while 9-1 in the starts that arent by him

his curveball has been losing some bite, and he randomly tires and throws a few bad pitches over the plate

it appears we were much too optimistic with him after his great spring

His velocity is also down a little bit which might improve as season goes on

i think he will rebound and pitch better but his era for the season will be around 4 and that he wont be ace we were hoping him to be pre-season

he was bad today giving up 4 runs in 5 innings, but most of that is from outing where he got shelled giving up 8 runs in 3 innings

damn. i saw that high ERA from him and was pretty surprised although the dude is just coming back from a serious surgery. its gonna take awhile to figure things out.

he had a 1.45 era and a 0.91 whip in spring training, thus lots of optimism from us, and he had looked like his curve and bite was in full work as was his location,

he also i thought looked decent in the game against the brewers, i mean, he did give up 3 runs in 5 2/3 innings, but he was 1 out away from 6ip 1 er in that game

but the last 2 starts, he has given up 14 hits, 4 homeruns, and 12 er in just 8 innigns to go along with 5 walks, but 8 stikeouts in those 8 innings

the strikeouts at least are encouraging

eh, it's 3 bad games, you're gonna see 30+ from a starter if he stays healthy. Doesn't mean anything, really no ones stats, especially the averages and percentages mean a thing till really the end of May.

100 AB for a hitter, 50 IP for a starting pitcher, 10 appearances for a reliever.

That's been my benchmark for "what sort of season will this player have". Even if they fall off a bit, a hot start can skew the final line enough that they look like they had a great season, like Ubaldo Jimenez in 2010.

"Who is going to be next, "

jon jay injured himself crashing into the wall yesterday and left the clubhouse with his arm in a sling

Mo said a roster move might be needed

Schumaker was activated from the DL when Berkman went on and immediately got dinged up crashing into the outfield wall.

Why don't you go back to cursing the player that was key to your team winning the WS last year?
Funny how Brewers fans miss Fielder but aren't cursing him for leaving.

our fans never obsess over any other rival NLC teams, we never go on to their board to post, we never talk about key injuries to their players on our board, or about if a Brewer player fails a drug test on our board, and we dont have a "THE CUBS IS DEAD" thread or anything where he constantly obsess on making fun of the Cubs

our fans do none of those things

:)

Really stinks when the injury bug bites your team, doesn't it? Just thought I would resurface this one, and no I'm not celebrating brewers injuries. Unlike a segment of brewers fans (not how large that segment is), I never like to see anyone get hurt. At game 6 of NLCS, when Hairston got banged up on the play at first, I was clapping when I saw that he was able to shake it off and continue to play the rest of the game. Then there was the play at first where the Cardinals former first baseman, Albert Pujols, jammed his wrist / hand and is rolling around on the ground. No exaggeration, probably half the stadium was cheering at that moment, and then booing when he got back in the game. Probably was one of the loudest cheers from Brewers fans of the game other than some of the early home runs by brewers had made it close. No doubt the largest cheer from the brewers fans from the 3rd inning on. Really classy stuff there.

To all real Brewers baseball fans, and sports fans for that matter, who don't wish injuries on anyone, this post is not for you, but for everyone else who cheers injury to the opposition, not too fun now is it?

Alright bud, just make sure you have a designated driver tonight. The last thing Missouri needs is another one to add to the DUI statistics.

It seems that our biggest problem right now is offense.

Two of the three guys that are injured, Gonzalez & Gomez, don't really amount to a ton of offense...they've helped the Brewers more with their gloves.
Now let's look at the other starters:
Weeks - worst slump of career
Morgan - way worse than last year
Ramirez - overpaid LAZINESS
Hart - stupid, lack of hustle
Ishikawa - improving...hasn't hit into two DP's in game in over a week
Izturis - AWFUL
Aoki - fields poorly like Morgan
Braun - bad Achilles

This lineup was bunk even before the injuries. The Gamel injury stinks, but it's not like we had a bunch of all-stars to help.

Some other idiot keeps talking about how the Brewers need a leader. They don't need a leader...they need a better team. Or else they all need to start playing like they don't want to be last place, which is where they are.
