we need a shortstop that is able to produce some runs for us, i.e. hit the ball.

I still have faith in Pastornicky. Since the team is one of the highest scoring teams in baseball right now they can afford to be a little more patient with him.

41 ABs......

42 ABs into last year Freddie was hitting .214/.283/.286.

Good addition to the point.

and i think that Pastornicky had more HRs at that point too.

Of course, he isn't going to have the monster type season that FF did, but im sure he'll be serviceable.

I hope he turns it around soon, he looks overmatched so far to me. He has no plan when he goes to the plate and he'll swing at anything right now.

Another thing against him is learning how to hit in the 8th spot with the pitcher behind him instead of a better hitter. Freddie only batted 8th in 10 games last year (37 PA).

I bet you could say that about every ML hitter at some point in the season. It wasn't that long ago that his ABs were looking confident, he was working pitcher hard and getting results (HR and triple)

He can't get any better unless he plays.

That is very true hitting 8th in the NL is a hard spot for a rookie no argument there

I don't think you could say every ML hitter looks as bad at the plate as Pastornicky does right now in a season. I was trying to point out that he needs to work the pitcher like he was earlier thats the only way he's going to hit. He wasn't getting results and its dropped him into this funk and its going to be hard for him to get out of it unless he starts working the pitchers again.

Our manager needs to start him in order for him to gain experience. We all know though Fredi is an idiot.

If this were Facebook, I would "like" your comment. He's made decent enough contact and gotten decent enough results for an 8th place batter on the best hitting team in the NL. Jack Wilson, not so much..

the eye test tells me Pastornicky will never be Freeman at the plate. Let's see what Pastornicky does this inning.

that was a good piece of hitting. That's all i want from him. Take what they give you, if nothing else, move the runner over, but DON't strike out or hit into the DP.
