Bummer after a nice win but this is a smart safe move, make sure he is healthy when the games matter most....

Mark Carig and others via twitter, Joe said decision is to DL him even with a low concern with the elbow...

fu*k...just terrible news. This is his second time on the DL this season, I'm starting to wonder if his weight is starting to catch up to him.

I hope this is not an ongoing trend, especially if we extended him. He better not be hurt all the time like A-Rod...

Better let him get the inflammation all out than having it linger. MRI is negative for structural damage.

I hate him going back on the DL so soon, but what are you going to do?? Tough year for him and lets hope he is fully healthy for the stretch run and beyond....

Joe just said in his post game interview that CC wanted to pitch Monday. Sweeny asked him why they're not just skipping a start and Joe said that if he's not ready on Saturday, then it would be basically a waste to not DL him now. They are being very cautious.

That was my greatest fear. He's got a lot of innings on that arm. I didn't want to hear the TJ word.

Move may be retroactive and he would be eligible to return by as early as 8-23, that would be great if that is all the time he misses and he comes back fully healthy....

Hi'ya Cat. Better safe than sorry, I guess. He's got to be healthy for the playoffs, so I'd rather see him miss these games.

Yes, Joe said that, too.....he would be available to pitch on the 24th against the Indians.

Sounds like they will make it retroactive and could be back by 23rd which means missing a couple starts as a best case scenario, lets hope for that....

Well he shouldn't pitch if it is still bothering him in a few days. Don't wanna make it worse. I assume Phelps would pitch in his spot.

Hi Steve :) Yes, that's right. It's just tough since we're trying to keep those O's where they are.
