The Rangers are the team to beat, they have a very good manager, depth and pitching. Maybe if Pettite returns and Arod gets healthy the Yankees may make some noise but it'll be tough. I still see that Ichiro has not shown what he is capable of.

You know the Yankees have the 3rd best American League team ERA right?

And the Rangers are 5th.
Angels are 6th.
Tigers are 8th.

You know Yankees have the 3rd best fielding percentage in the American League as well.

And the Rangers are 5th.
Angels are 7th.
Tigers are 10th.

You know the Yankees lead the MAJOR LEAGUES in Home Runs with 168 (17 more than the closest team)

Rangers are 1st in RBI, but the Yankees are 3rd.

Rangers have a higher team average, but other than that, statistically, the Yankees a better defensive and pitching team.

Don't let facts get in your way though!

Rangers may be the team to beat but that has nothing to do with either their manager or its pitching. If Hamilton gets his head out of his rear end, they will be tough....if not, they are beatable.

Funny I cant find the Rangers name in the list of WS champs. Not to say they arent formidable, however, this Yankee team has suffered incredible injuries this year to key players and literally have not missed a beat, in fact, they have pretty much the same record as Texas. If we get our injured guys back in September and get them to shake the rust off, I like our chances. This team, in my opinion has shown a lot of character and that is something that a winner has to have.

Someone may have to deal with the Rangers in the PS....and if it is US, it will be fine.

We stack up just fine!

You are trying awfully hard to convince yourself. Is it working?

Concrete proof that the OP is not using stats. He is just using ignorance.

At least you brought up some stats to show the lack of validity to Deeejay's claim of the Yanks' pitching so-called 'being unable to stack up.' The pitching's been great lately and yet facts don't get in the way of naysayers around here.

"Texas' ERA since the ASB-4.79
NYY since the ASB-3.72

Texas overall-3.93
NYY overall-3.73

Texas' starters ERA-4.25
NYY starters ERA-3.96

Texas bullpen ERA-3.37
NYY bullpen ERA-3.17

Thanks for playing troll, run along now."

IMO, the Yankees are also playing in a harder division this year.

I actually think the Rangers are playing in a much tougher division

Angels and A's are out there. Who would have thought the A's would be in the playoff run??

Anyway we match up much better against the Rangers than we do against the Angels. I said this last year when I said we matched up much better against the Rangers than the Tigers and everyone called me a troll, etc cause I didn't "believe" in the team.

We have the better pitching against the Rangers this year.

Rangers have a better offense though...

Your right. I wasnt really thinking about the A's and how hot of a team they have been this year. Didnt they win like 18 out of 20 games at one point, recently?

I still think the AL East is the toughest division. Really every team but the Blue Jays has a shot at the playoffs.
