I know there is still a little over a half of the season left, but with the way AJ has been playing this season, do you think the Sox are likely to resign him? I kind of think there is no way they should let him walk.

If he has a few more games like tonight, he will be in a very strong bargaining position.

I would love to see him back next year. There is no catcher in MLB more durable than AJ. And look at his numbers this year!

I think it depends on his asking price. We certainly don't have any internal replacements, but if he keeps having the year he's having, he may end up out of our price range.

We're going to have to bring in somebody via trade or signing. I just don't think Flowers is the answer.

Like Joe said, asking price. I don't know what the market is for catchers this offseason, but if AJ wants money and he's the only one with decent numbers hitting the market, there's no reason to throw a ton of money at him. As much as it would hurt, most teams don't get a ton of production from their catcher.

I think you have to at least look into it. I don't trust Flowers as the catcher of the future at all.

He's gonna be 36. You make him a decent offer, but paying a huge price for a 36 year old catcher coming off a career year sounds like one of the sillier things you can do. Enjoying his great year, but when guys have established performance levels, and they shoot up for one year, it's usually fools gold.

Nobody trusts Flowers, but the question is kind of how much you would throw at AJ. Given his age, there has to be a limit.

There going to have to make some tough choices after this year. In additon to AJ being a free agent; Peavy, Floyd, and Youkilis all have options but they are all rather high so I doubt they can afford to exercise all 3 of them. Personally I wouldn't offer AJ a ton of money, not sure how much longer he is going to be able to catch 5 games a week...

If it comes down to it Flowers might not be that bad. His defense has gotten a lot better..

Flowers has 2 RBI. And 2 home runs.

I would offer him a 2 year deal, Flowers nor Phegley are ready for major at bats

Why all the hate for Flowers? He's shown great improvement defensively especially throwing out runners. Much better than AJ. He has much more power than AJ. Before this season I wouldn't consider AJ a power hitter by any means. If flowers caught 125 games I believe you would see an improvement in his hitting AVE., and probably end up with a simular OBP as AJ. Remember AJ doesn't walk much.

The little that I've seen of Flowers he doesn't seem to swing the bat. I've seem him take good pitches in scoring opportunities. I'd resign AJ. Wouldn't go overboard and would hope he would take a reasonable offer to stay. Not a home town discount but if another team offered him not too much more I'd hope he'll take our offer. Similar to when Paulie when he was a free agent.

Most catchers aren't going to hit a ton. I think Flowers would be OK. Would love to have AJ back but who knows how things will shake out at the end of the year

I hate to look down the road and am trying to just enjoy the moment, but the Sox have several players besides AJ over 30, Rios,Alexei,Youk,Dunn, and PK. I think RV is using him and Flowers perfectly to give Flowers a chance to take over next year. If the DH slot was open then things would look better for keeping AJ. The Thome and Dunn signing have kept the DH slot filled when AJ and PK could have been used instead, leaving room to groom a catcher and 1st baseman and saving a ton of money.

I would offer AJ 5M with an option year and do it sooner than later. He has proven very tough and durable, a leader and swinging the bat quite well. AJ has become a Sox fixture and leader, plus look at all the older guys the Yanx have kept around and acquired. He must get a lot of satisfaction to be outperforming Mauer these days who replaced him in Minnie. It's quite a story actually.

AJ's bat is a bonus but I love to watch him call games, block balls in the dirt, and this year throw out some runners. His play Thursday allowed Sox to win the game.

I wouldn't judge Flowers on his ABs this year. He has not played much AT ALL. Part of that is just because AJ's been so good. Very tough for a bench player to do anything when playing so little. I realize there is nothing to be confident about with him. Makes sense then to start looking to re-signing or finding another catcher, but don't make it out like his numbers at the plate this year should be the deciding factor.

There is hope on the farm, Phegley .272 at AAA and Sierra .289(.375 last 10) at AA.

I hope they don't Fisk (Yes FISK is used as a verb) AJ.
Flowers is Karko of 2012, don't throw him out there yet.

Flowers may well replace AJ, but why rush it.

Will other teams that "Hate" AJ want him on their roster?
Will AJ stay loyal, he does like it here?

I think he'll re-sign for 2 yrs, with a 3rd option.
F- Flowers, make him wait. He ain't shown offensively that he's ready.
With the pitchers keeping runners close, AJ looks alot better behind the plate defensively too.

Who would have thought we LOSE Buehrle (Our best at keeping runners close) and we improve in this area overall? I like this team.

Friday nights game rocked !!!!!!!!!!!

Have a good weekend buddy
Otis
