Why the hype about Strasburg and none for Sale? Media ignoring Sox players Rios,PK, Quintana, and Sale.

Quintana is getting some ROTY numbers but all the media is only looking to that guy of Anaheim.

Good question. Law had Strasburg as his ace on his "perfect 25" roster, but didn't even have Sale on the roster.

Yeah, who wants Strasburg and his 234K/42BB in 182 innings?

Who said I didn't want him??? I said I found it odd that Law would have him as his ace but not even have Sale on his entire roster.

i checked out their stats after you said that, they are both pretty great pitchers with a slight edge to strasburg because of a higher strike out total and lower walk total. sales is 205/61 in 189. Sale gets him in average department though as well as era, but both are close.I almost want to give the nod to sale because he is a lefty, and strasburg has already had tommy john once.

I'd go

Verlander
Strasburg
Kershaw
Felix
CC

That'll work. Love Weaver and Cain, but tough to crack that top 5.

I guess it depends. Are we talking just for this year? Give me

Strasburg
Sale
Dickey(I know but its hard not to pick him with what he is doing right now)
Verlander
Kershaw

not necessarily in that order..

if we are talking long term that changes a lot, but the way the article was written he was talking about a 25 man roster to win the series this year.

I need to see a bit more from the Sale's and Dickey's of the world before putting them ahead of guys like Weaver or CC. Very much looking forward to seeing Sale take on Texas next week. Not sure if any of it was done intentionally or just a stroke of great luck, but he has had the dream schedule. Along with the Sox, the Red Sox, Yanks, Blue Jays, and Rangers are the top 5 offenses in the AL. The Cardinals are ranked 4th in MLB in scoring and the only top ranked offense in the NL the Sox faced.

Starts against those 5 teams
Peavy 4 (and faces Yanks today)
Floyd 3
Danks 2
Quintana 3
Humber 2
Sale 0

It's kind of amazing. Sale has faced 3 teams multiple times, the Twins, Mariners, and Indians. Again, not taking anything away from him because you can only pitch against who is on the schedule, but it will be a real step up against those other teams. Also makes Peavy's numbers look even more impressive.

Good point, didnt even realize the schedule has been that favorable for him. Still after what we have seen from him, especially the last two months, I would have a hard time leaving him off the roster.. Same goes with Dickey. 7 of his last 8 starts have been 1er or less and 5 hits or less. Amazing plus he doesn't even walk guys...

Yeah he has gotten better each year. I havent seen him pitch much this year but he must have really mastered the knuckle to be pitching this well.

Just remember that National league pitchers don't have to face DH usually (some a must to avoid=walks)but instead have usually weak hitting pitchers that are an easy K.

Yeah I was just asking because you said you were looking forward to seeing him face a good offense. Pretty exciting that we might actually have a legit ace for the next 5 years, if he can just stay healthy...
