Nice job setting up the scene Davey. I would not be surprised if Stras gets some starts in September if they have him miss a few in August.

Also...

by giving him a bit of a brake and starting him up again a bit later, it helps prevent scarring to form in his arm.

While if they just shut him down early and he did not start up again until spring training, the possibility of scarring occurring is far greater.

I might agree with you if I didn't see Strasburg trying to stretch his back out in between innings a couple times last night.

Maybe he is in on it or maybe it happened at the most opportune time.

He's got 4 full days to rest it and get therapy before his next start. Those who think this is some grand scheme to allow him to somehow become available in October will likely be disappointed. Keep in mind that as various ideas were tossed-out there by reporters, the idea of having him skip starts or be shut down temporarily only to be cranked back up again a month or so later was dismissed outright by Davey and Rizzo. Doing the same thing now because his back came-up a little stiff from sleeping on a plane isn't any different.

I understand he has been treated recently for loose liver, which has been going around

What symptoms are associated with 'loose liver'?

I used to have a condition that cropped-up after every weekend called 'Overworked Liver'...

LOL

Very similar in symptomology but the only way to cure loose liver or LL is to go on on the DL. Rest alone won't do it. A patient must be on the DL
