Sadly the baseball fan world is not behind Desmond, in spite of his numbers and hustle....maybe Joe will pluck him anyway...let's hope....I know I have not always been Desmond's biggest fan, but over the last couple of weeks, he has showed some spunk, and been pretty DG in the infield...if not this year, surely next, assuming no injuries or fall of performance....he is a hustler....and for that, he gets full credit from me (for what that is worth, eh, Gimmy?)...I like hustlers...and with the hustle is going come some eff ups...that's the price of hustling.

Yeah, have to be luck, unfortunately.

I think I said somewhere else, the perception of Desmond reminds me of how the Expos' Tim Wallach was perceived. Wallach was not Mike Schmidt so he didn't get into too many All Star Games and only won the accolades (Silver Slugger, etc.) he earned. But he was a solid player who contributed a ton to the team.

Desmond is a huge asset to the Nats: excellent defensive player and very dangerous hitter who contributes his fair share of RBI's - and often big RBI's. Good clubhouse guy who doesn't miss many games. But he's not Tulowitzki, Ramirez or Rollins at the plate.

Some people will always look at him and see what he's not, not appreciating what he is.

I hope until a super SS develops out of the farm, Nats keep Desmond as I think he's a character team guy.

I agree....he has improved a lot over last season, and his fielding skills seemed to have gotten noticeably better (quicker, better instant reactions to a play)...so you're right...people notice what he isn't ...(human nature, I suppose)...but maybe he'll get plucked for a spot anyway...

Although it's probably not likely, I would like to see Tony name Bryce to the All-Star Game.

Desmond gets my vote.

One of the few that realizes just how fortunate he is to be in the Big Leagues and shows it with his hustle and his infectious smile while on the field.

I really enjoy watching Desmond and the children that get his autograph on balls before games. It brings back memories and a tear or two from my childhood when I received a "HONDO" ball before a game.

There aren't many that I would sit and vote over and over again for but, Desmond "gets IT" and I was smiling as I voted away for him.

Desmond is a TRUE All-Star on and off the field.
