Just can't believe it.

87 pitches for Porcello through 7 innings and Leyland takes him out. The rays couldn't even hit a ball hard off him all night long.

Let me guess...Benoit isn't available now tommorow?? Leyland just doesn't get it. Funny thing is how many times has he done this with Porcello? If I'm that kid I wouldn't be able to stand my manager. Pathetic. Even when they win games Leyland and his dumb moves stand out so much.

I'm so sick of him too.

This one makes me very upset too, no doubt. Ricky should have been allowed to keep going. 3rd straight good outing, 2nd straight very good. But Leyland always pulls him early, and it's maddening. How does a 23 year old kid ever develop any late inning confidence if you never let him pitch into the late innings?

Some times I wonder if Rick wants to ask for a trade. I'd be considering doing it were I in his shoes.

Rick left a few pitches up in that inning. Pitch count is not important if you're hanging breaking balls. I think it was a great move.

I think Porcello had a very good June last year too.

Yeah, I'd rather take him out too early, than too late.

That's the way managers manage these days. They have their holders, set up man and closers. It s not going to change.

5-0 July last year.

oh, it was July, well, after the last 3 starts a 5-0 July would be pretty nice.

After tonight's game his ERA is down to 4.35 which is a trend in the right direction

still don't like the 1.51 WHIP though

Agreed. A 4.35 ERA is good for a #4 pitcher. The 1.51 WHIP is troublesome however considering that he doesn't walk that many.

See I would understand that if that was the actual case. What pitcher don't leave a few pitches up in a game? IF every pitcher had a good game without leaving pitches up they would all pitch perfect games every outing.

Now I understand where your coming from. But tell me this..Why let him throw 100 pitches when he gives up a lot of runs??

Porcello has pitched in 7 games this year where he gave up 2 or less runs. In them 7 games only 1 time he's throw 100+ pitches. But out of the 6 games he's given up 4+ runs he's thrown 100 pitches 4 times.

Please tell me where that makes any sense at all.

Rick has a tendancy to melt down at times. Maybe Leyland was being too cautious with him, but I had no problem with the move.

Benoit got a couple pitches up in the zone, and they then went up into the seats.

Benoit left a few pitches " up in the zone" after Porcello left.

Glad the Tigers won. Still think it was a bad move by Leyland. Hindsight is 20/20.
