Yes! Now I'm able to buy healthcare that will cover birth control and other problems that I will never see! Oh wait, I was always allowed to buy that sort of coverage if I wanted...

a slight and respectful correction dave. it's not that you will be able to buy insurance for birth control it's that you will have to buy it.

The majority has spoken.

The majority voted Obama in.

Obama passed these measures.

You don't like it?

Vote against Obama in November.

If the majority doesn't like what Obama is doing, he will not be re-elected.

That's the downside of a representative democracy.

IF what YOU want isn't what the majority wants, you're kind of F*cked.

Welcome to America.

well that's right. the supremes could have done obama a favor by simply ruling the mandate unconstitutional but they avoided saving obama and the democrats from themselves. more great news thus explaining the mona lisa smile on roberts' face.

so without doing the math, federal taxes (the power to tax being the mechanism that allows for obamacare) have increased under obama drastically and he hasn't even vetoed the bush tax cut extension yet as promised. romney will paint obama as the biggest taxer in history without equal and he will be right.

every poll shows a majority of americans not in favor of obamacare. now we get to know what's in the bill as pelosi promised.

and the states can opt out of the medicaide provision. i wonder how many will and how soon and what it will mean to the poor folks who rely on medicaide.

i also wonder how many corporations will cut their employees health care loose and simply pay the fine which saves them thousands per year per employee. if you work for GE you may find yourself having to purchase obamacare directly. but how can you complain? the bill is designed to force you into obamacare as it rewards the corporation for their assistance in making that happen.

We didn't get the healthcare plan we wanted because the repelicans screwed that one up too. Obama had to settle on no public option to get it passed. Ka dink ka dink

The major indices were down before the decision was made public. Futures were -90 at 8:00. The market has repeated itself each summer for the past four years. This down market is Euro based, not Supreme Court based. I am going out. I will be happy to respond later.

Stick to politics. Your insights are much more accurate there than they are when you are talking baseball.

Actually....Roberts may have done us a favor by striking down the commerce clause argument and labeling it a tax. This law will be challenged again based on that. This did not pass as a tax bill. Even if it stands, we can now push Congress to rescind the tax. Roberts may have pulled a fast one on Owe-Ba-Mao. Also, since it is a 'tax' now, it comes under the filibuster proof reconciliation act.

This was Roberts, being pressured by Leahy and the liberal media, protecting "his court" while allowing the Republicans to easily overturn it. I predicted these weeks ago, amongst friends here at work, that this is how it would go down. Up until yesterday they told me I was nuts and that Roberts was a right wing nutjob.

He was appointed by the statist Bush and Bush is just like his statist dad who appointed the statist Souter who is just like the statist Roberts.

These people - Bush, Obama, Romney, etc, represent the Ruling Class Elite.

BTW - did you read the opinions and the dissents? I spent TOO MUCH time reading them.

Ginsberg writes the worst opinions on earth. She quoted more liberal media anecdotal pieces than she did law. EASILY the worst justice in the history of the SC - but what did you expect from an ACLU boss?

Oh well - this just fires up the anti-Obama vote and pretty much guarantees Romney's election. I was actually at peace with the fact that, if overturned, it would enrage OBama'a base to get out and vote for him and we would have no ObamaoCare and Obama for 4 more years. Now, we get the obverse.

My biggest issue - and where Base and I will ALWAYS disagree - is that the Fed govt screws up and ruins everything they touch - and now the thing they get to destroy is our health and our children's health.

Eugenics in action. Ted Turner and his progressive Georgia Guidestones are going to get their way:

"Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature."

If it looks like Romney is going to get elected sell everything, he will push down the middle class even more. Grab one of those $8 hour jobs with no benefits at Sports Authority or Staples on the way down.

Except in the real world, taxes have gone down for 95% of working families.

He is also proposing a tax plan that lowers the corporate rate from 35% to 28%

Under Republican Superman Ronald Reagan, corporate tax rate was 50% until 1987 when he lowered it to 38.5%.

Another major straw man argument is that lower corporate tax rates equals more job creation, except job creation under Reagen and Clinton were very strong, with Clinton leaving office with red-hot growth and a national surplus.

That is an actual track record. There is no such track record in modern era of corporate tax cuts doing anything but increasing corporate profits. trickle down doesn't trickle down.

you can continue living in a bizarro world bubble where Obama is some radical leftist, but he is more right wing that Reagan ever was.

By the way, the health care mandate was a Republican idea developed with the insurance companies.
