I have a little source that says Yost actually either reads this board or has someone who monitors it for him. Guess some pretty defensive conversations have been going on inside the stadium about fans and their comments.

Let me be the first to congratulate Mr. Yost, way to manage this team into another losing season!! That hasn't been done before!

Thanks

I would hope Yost pay more attention to the team than what fans, myself included, say about his managing skills.

Agreed.

Since none of us have any managerial experience, I'd say we're the last ones anybody in his position should be paying attention to.

Not to mention I think blaming this mess on Yost is a bit short-sighted to begin with. He's certainly struggled with setting lineups and managing pitchers at times, but this is a really awful team.

What could anybody do with it?

Connie Mack would be lucky to guide this team to a 70 win season.

Must be Cowhide with his direct posting line to Moore and Yost.

I have no idea why that was addressed to me, or what it had to do with my post.

I have to say that losing both Paulino and Duffy handicapped Yost this season, he had this team within 5 games of .500 before the all star break and losing the series against Detroit before the break seemed to send this team into a spiral. Having Sanchez pitching the way he did didnt help his cause either, luckily they were able to trade him to pick up Guthrie who I think might get things turned around here. As i said previous when they had the 12 game losing streak,, Yost should be telling this team they can just as easily win 12 games to get right back in it. My only problem with Yost is his handling of the starting pitching at times, he sometimes will go with starters too long when its obvious they just dont have it by putting the team in too a big hole to mount a comeback. My sense if i were running the team that a starter gives up 4 runs early should be taken out and a long reliever put in to stop the bleeding, Ive seen Yost go as many as 7-8 runs before pulling them and i realize he is trying to save the pen but what sense is it to just give a game away when you're trying to build momentum, every game counts. This is a good hitting team that at any moment can mount a drive to come back, dont put them in too big a hole to do it. They need to seriously look at picking up an ace to anchor this starting staff to have any hope of making a run next season, it's time to open the wallet Glass if you dont want to waste the talent you have offensively. This team I still believe is going to be a good one. Also I think they should take a long look at making Mendoza their NO 2 next season, he has outpitched both Hochevar and Chen, I think this guy could be something special just as Paulino was starting to show. I would give Yost one more season to see if he can get this thing turned around.

In a stunning turn of events, I actually agree with every point you made there.

I think the entire "fire Yost" crowd can't see past their own noses.

Yost is using dried up duct tape, and rusty baling wire and trying to make something cohesive and usable out of it. No easy task. He's made mistakes, and had missteps, but what manager hasn't? The only difference is that most managers have enough talent on the field to sometimes mask those mistakes.

Thanks Mo, I like Yost and he has had his moments that Ive disagreed with but just before the break the players were not giving in when they were losing, they kept fighting back. Thats a reflection on their manager. He was handicapped with losing both Duffy and Paulino, two guys I thought would move up in the rotation. Starting pitching was and is the problem with this team, they get a good one all bets are off, too much offensive talent not to make a bid for the top spot. They have to make a move for an "ace" over the off season and re-evaluate whether Hochevar even belongs in the rotation, hes had enough time to show his No 1 pick was warranted and hasnt done so.

Well, I don't agree that pitching is the only problem. We're dead last in K's, yet only 20th in runs scored. That points to a substantial concern.

But, I do agree about Paulino and Duffy. The sample size for both is still way too small, but they both have looked solid.

As for Hochevar, my disgust with him is only equal to my disgust with Mazzaro. Both should be working for UPS next year. I've already cashed in this year, but if Hochevar is in the rotation next year, I will not be watching them play on those days.

I will be shocked if Hochevar is a Royal nxt season. I think DM has decided Hochevar is never going to be better than he is right now. For the first time we heard trade rumors about Hochevar and I think he will actively shopped this winter. I think I remember reading some time ago that DM was afraid of trading him for fear that he would somehow become the stud first round first pick that he was supposed to be. I dont think DM thinks that anymore. jmo.

By DM, you mean the same guy that resigned Betancourt this past off season?

I actually feel the complete opposite. I would be shocked if Hochevar WEREN'T still here next season.

Either way, this is the one and only case where I wouldn't mind Moore giving him away for some ludicrous lowball deal. Just to finally get him the heII out of here.

Replacing Hochevar seems like a good idea but who are you going to replace him with?

How about Betancourt? Maybe the third time will be the charm.

I am leaning toward Moustakas, with the way he has been hitting and his strong arm may be his best position.

That I don't have an answer for, my friend.

I've just personally seen enough. He's gotten to the point where I'd be perfectly content giving anybody a shot. I just don't think he'll ever be starter material.

I'd have no problem with penning him. At least then you can yank him quickly without sweating wearing out the rest of the pen. Maybe make him a ROOGY! :)

Huh?

I don't necessarily like the cat, but to blame this mess on him seems a little ridiculous, IMO. Is he part of the problem? He may very well be.

But, thinking somebody like TLR (for example) could coax this team past 75 wins is delusional, IMO.

This is a horrid, horrid team.
