I always thought that the main factor in being a fan of a team was/is civic pride. The Team represents the city to where you live, or in some cases, the state (Rockies, Diamondbacks, Rangers) where you live. I moved to Colorado Springs a year and 10 months ago from the Anaheim/Orange County Area in California, and I want to spend the rest of my days here. Naturally, I am now a die-hard Colorado Springs Sky Sox Fan, win or stink, being they represent my home. Because the Sky Sox are the AAA Affiliate to The Rockies, and the state of Colorado is also my home, that makes me a Rockies Fan as well; and besides, I love Coors Field. Sure, I like it when The Rox-Sox wins, but it won't detour my decision to be a fan either way. About the only thing that would is if the Rox-Sox moved away from Colorado/Colorado Springs, or if the teams did what the Anaheim Angels did in 2005--diss their community and rename themselves after a larger city several miles away. No other team except for The Angels has ever done that, in any sport. I don't see that happening with The Rox-Sox.
