Like he did Youk. Beckett despite not having a great year is STILL a quality SP and will likely thrive where he goes at least initially. He seems to be a cancer so I'm not against trading him IF we get good value back. But if he gets moved for the likes of what we got for Youk I will be enraged like no other time. We need to get a TOP pitching prospect back in return to even consider moving him. SP is the big problem with this team and only Matt Barnes sits in the system close to MLB ready and he is not all that highly rated to boot.

If Beckett is moved Ben get good value back. This season is a wash no matter what people think butr Beckett needs to stay unless a TOP SP prospect comes back our way.

Beckett, if moved, will be a dump. There's no one who is going to give up a top prospect for him. They will consider it taking him off our hands, much like what occurred with Manny.

No one will want an average pitcher with such a contract. Beckett has always been good one year and terrible the next.

However, I do agree with you that the situation is not so bad we need to let him go for nothing. There is no one breathing down his neck to take his spot in the rotation, unlike the situation with Youk, where it really came down to, keep Youk and play him (when he was obviously miserable) or trade him and play Middlebrooks. What we got for Youk was an afterthought, really. He was traded to make room for Middlebrooks.

He finally showed some fire last night. Maybe he was trying not to get traded or the word got to him that he was being offered around and it lit a fire under him. I know he has 10 5 rights but he basically already said he'd waive them, if he backed out now things would get really rough on him.

We got nothing for Youk so we should do better wih Beckett. Trade him to an NL team and he will fetch more.

True, but that wasn't a straight up trade. The Dodgers didn't give us Jason Bay.

The Marlins traded Hanley for nothing great because his attitude s*cked. Would be the same for Beckett. Especially if the FO thinks Beckett's attitude is rubbing off on the rest of the pitchers, which everyone that follows the team seems to think is the case.

If Beckett goes guaranteed he is going to have a good season next year, which is why I wouldn't trade him. Every season since 2005 he was good in odd years and bad in even years.
