    • Sox should have kept Jed Lowrie (.266-13-31 and .850 ops).

can we get an update on all-star Jed Lowrie?

Ooh, can I? He's played a total of 80 games so far this year, going on the DL 3 days after the All Star break ended with a nerve injury in his right knee and hasn't been back since.

Not for nothing, but he took a nasty slide trying to turn the DP...

Why would we consider not having Lowrie a mistake at this time. We have Pedro Ciriaco - who really should be the SS of the future. Everyone keeps talking about Iglesias since he was always the planned future but HE CAN NOT HIT !!! Ciriaco is a hit machine (AVG) and at least has some power (SLG & OPS) and his plate discipline has gotten someone better (OBP wasnt stunning but better now). He is great for flexibility (3B & 2B) when there are outages. What does Lowrie bring better than Pedro?
VOTE FOR PEDRO!!

Ciriaco has 3 walks to 29 strikeouts. Which I might call a fluke if he didn't have a 23/172 walk-to-strikeout ratio in 254 AAA games. His .265/.281/.368 career AAA line is much closer to his true talent level than his .335/.349/.471 career major league line.

I wasn't really commenting on him being mistake...Although I do believe he was and is a better player than Aviles or HOF Pedro Ciriaco...and I'm not a big Melancon fan

It's just unfortunate that sometimes impact injuries happen in the course of a game (see Ellsbury, Jacoby) that get guy a guy labeled as injury prone. If you believe in luck, I'll admit accident prone.

The shame is they didn't hold onto Orlando Cabrera and then they topped that by trading Hanley. The Yanks have had Jeter at SS forever, and we have been cursed with the revolving door.

Big mistake....trading him away in return for the '07 World Series MVP, and the '07 ALCS MVP

Agreed , Orlando Cabrera was the SS we should have kept for a long time. He was a proven winner and could play at a high level for the Red Sox. Not everyone can.

At least he is not coughing up runs at a record pace.

And he had a special handshake for every guy in the dugout. Lol. I've heard all kinds of rumors, the best one being he needed someone to aquaint him with the City of Boston and Epstein's fiance took it upon herself to do it and OC did more than teach her the tango.
