Who would everyone rate on a long term basis as the Reds five top prospects today. I'll start with

1. Tony Cingrani (possible top of the rotation starter?)
2. Daniel Corcino (number 2/3 starter, bulldog like Cueto)
3. Billy Hamilton (speed and top of the order potential but where to play him)
4. Robert Stephenson (big strong arm, much potential but years away)
5. Donnie Joseph (lefty reliever, moving throught the organization quickly, Bray's replacement)

Of the younger players who we have yet to see much from I like Tanner Rahier and Jesse Winkler from this years draft and in the 2011 draft of couse Cingrani and Stephenson as well as Ryan Wright.

Hamilton? How so ? He doesn't really get legit basehits like other guys, and doesn't hit enough gap shots or home runs....And his defense is really bad and has no arm, plus his baseball IQ is awful as he just has no idea when to steal...lol..Sounds like a guy destined for AA ball until he's 30..

I'm not doubting your judgement, but do you have numbers to back this up? He has a decent average...HR's are not there, but does a lead-off type hitter need this? Whats his fielding %?

I found it...

Billy Hamilton has a .944 fielding % for his Minor League career (4 Years).

For comparison, Brandon Phillips had a .949 fielding % in his minor league career (7 years).

Defense looks solid to me...

Word on the street is he is a defensive liability.

As for his smarts on the bases or lack there of, I disagree with Higz (from what I've read). I have never seen him play so this is just based on others opinions.

-In 2011 Hamilton stole 103 bases at an 83.7 percent clip. That's incredibly efficient base stealing and it shows that he's not only fast, but also intelligent on the base paths.- Tyler Duma

Yea but I've seen a bulldog kick a PUMA in the back of the head. Would you like a firm kick to the head to end your career?

Hey PUMA, isn't it about time for you to get injured?

Hammy is headed for LF. If we could hide the Big Donk there, we can hide Billy.

Joseph is an excellent reliever, but a reliver is not a top five prospect.

1. Billy Hamilton SS/OF Age 21
2. Tony Cingrani SP Age 22
3. Robert Stephenson SP Age 18
4. Donnie Joseph RP Age 24
5. Daniel Corcino SP Age 21

Note: I can see Joseph possibly pitching for the reds this year. He has flat out been nasty all year. Between Pensacola and now Louisville, here are his current numbers on the year.

IP-38.2
W-6
L-2
SO-56
BB-12
Saves-16
OBA-.126
ERA. 0.70

I say this guy may be the closer going into next year, and Chapman moves to rotation. Do hope we get to see him sometime this year. Also, if the reds make any trades, these will probably be the guys other teams covet.
