Latos was our most successful SP in the month of May, he went 3-0 with a 3.26 ERA and held opponents to a .196 average.

When was the last time you could say the reds had 5 decent Starting Pitchers?

"Would anyone here undo that trade? Not me. "

I wouldn't undo it because I never would have done it in the first place. Stupid trade.

Really? Because Yonder would be starting at first, where? MLB? NO!!! AAA? No!!! He'd be on the bench watching Joey everyday. Boxbuerger was my only regret and he ain't doing so well either.

Of course I hope Latos turns the corner soon but still think its a good trade. Volquez needed to be gone and walks to many batters for GAP, Yonder blocked by Votto, Grandel blocked by Meso and Boxberger has potential but still needs to live up to that potential.

So giving up the two best prospects in the system for a pitcher that is worse is your idea of a good trade? Even if Yonder and Grandal were rotting in Louisville, they'd still be trade bait at worst.

Latos looks like a back of the rotation starter. The Reds have no shortage of those. The question is whether the organization has the courage to admit they were wrong or do they keep running him out there to destroy the bullpen. My guess is the latter.

I don't recall many detractors when the trade was announced.

Lets see how the season pans out Latos has had a bad first two months but he is only 24 years old yet coming into tonights game his career ERA was lower then Cueto, Leake, Arroyo and Bailey with Cueto at 3.7 being the only Reds starter even close to Latos 3.52.

The board seems to think it's ok to give up a ton of guys if they aren't going to
be starters for the Reds.
So what if they wouldn't have started. You still have to get value for up you give up.
I hope it turns out well, but it's has the looks of a big stinker at this point.
Latos has not been impressive with the exception of 3 starts in May.
and even thos i wasn't trying to say in the original thread post that EV is better than
Latos, he has been this year and that's a fact. The era doesn't lie.

It was pretty clear that things with Volq weren't working in Cinci. It happens. Sometimes a change of scenery is needed to clean things up. Ball parks like GABP can get in peoples' heads sometimes and drive them a little nutty. I wish him well in SD. He did his time here now it is time to do it there. That's baseball.

Wow you guys are ridiculous. The fact that some of you are calling the trade a bust is insane. We made the trade for a proven successful pitcher, the guys we gave up had not proven to be productiive at the ML level. Give it Latos some time, I'm sure he has a lot of pressure on him. He will be fine. And you cannot judge this trade for a season or two because the other guys we geve up have not PLAYED yet aside from yonder who is terrible in the field and isn't hitting all that well.

The only thing we really can say about the trade it WE WILL SEE.

Calling it a bust is silly.

Well Latos is an enigma of sorts but for what it is worth he was 3-0 in May with an ERA around 3.80 and hitters batted .196 versus him in that span.

Of course his pitch counts are troublesome but i think as the season goes on Latos will get tougher and tougher.

Here's to hoping you are right. He didn't look too tight tonight out there, but everyone has a bad outing now and then.

Exactly. He is not our ace so he is expected to have a bad game now and then. Hes been good since May 1. Still IMO we gave up nothing for him until they all prove something.
