OK I'll bite...WHY???

Shifting line-ups, Molina, having an incompetent or partially blind 3rd base coach, batting a sub-200 hitter in the 2-hole most of the season, constantly resting his best hitter until he blowzzz out his oblique, Derek Shelton, starting a AA line-up on Memorial Day, letting team stay in Miami after we swept em to return home and get swept by Mets, not being a leader, etc...... Do you want me to go on Casey?

Thats not all?? Please do...Don't forget the silly Haircuts,The dress up travels,The Merlot (nah forget that I like that stuff too)..

Joe will NEVER get fired. His ego dictates that when he sees the writing on the wall (maybe??? someday) he'll just "leave" to pursue "other ventures".

Furthermore- this is JOES major league baseball city. He calls the shots- surrounds himself with coaches HE can manipulate. He SELLS himself better than anyone I ever heard of in or out of baseball. I have said this before and I'll say it again that his persuasiveness is something I admire- and I KNOW he is very very smart. But, he has been blessed a great pitching staff and an even greater front office brains ( at least in the past) of getting real "bargain" players. I've explained the MOY stuff in the past. He never gets any real challenge from the media- most of which because he's got most of them befuddled.

I also know this was just wishful thinking and tongue in cheek, but I feel your pain

I will never understand the desire to fire Joe on here. What manager does what he does with no talent outside of the pitching staff, and no payroll? Sure he is quirky but the guy wins, and wins with just about the smallest payroll in baseball. The teams he competes with in the division each year, the Yankees and the BoSox have payrolls 3 times the size Joe works with.

I agree with you 100% , I REALLY do, those are the facts as far as the rays record and their payroll. I and others feel his "quirkiness" cost them a few - idk 5-6???? games a year-

But whats his up side?
