    • Brian Roberts--the end, hopefully

Brian, when healthy, for a few years, was one of the best lead off hitters in the league...
* BUT- he is done, under 200 batting average, no power, afraid to steal, no aggressiveness at the plate or in the field...simply bringing nothing to the team......turn off the lights, the party is over..time to move on....release him and get on with finding a permanent replacement....

---I know its not his fault, but...shortly after his return, the season seemed to turn also...
Markakis hurt, starting pitchers falling apart, Reimold surgery.. etc etc etc....

--- Hopefully Tillman, Johnson & Brittain come to the rescue... GO O's !!!!.

------ It is still a BETTER season, than I think anyone expected, hopefully we can hold on and be at least 500 at the break...regroup and have a respectable 2nd half...

"I know it's not his fault but".....

The mere fact you went down the above path clearly reveals what a thoughtless tool you are. There are tons of people in the organization more savy than yourself including the batboy. They will decide Brian's future.

The team was starting to slump long before Roberts came back, including his immediate replacement, Andino.

It is not fair or accurate to blame our current hitting/defense/pitching woes, on a man coming back from a serious injury, who hasn't seen significant time this year.

That said, I do feel that Roberts has been fighting to come back for long enough. Great career Brian, we all wish you could have seen some better teams here in B-more while you were doing your thing. It's time to focus on teaching AJ how to steal bases more effectively.

He should have stayed in the minors for a lot longer than he did. 14 days in the minors after missing 13 months is not going to cut it. He should have stayed at Norfolk until after the All Star break.

He could not. It is called "THE BASIC AGREEMENT" between MLB Owners and The Players Union.

Yeah, isn't it 20 days max?

20 Days Max for a position player, 30 Days Max for a pitcher.

Most do not believe these "Silly" rules should get in the way of player movement but look uninformed when not knowing them. He did his 20 days was recalled, suffered a different injury, will now get the chance at another 20 days of MiLB ball if it is deemed necessary by management. As posters on a baseball forum, we have nothing to say about these things.

He is out for 13 Months +-. He does a 30 day rehab assignment. He returns to the club and starts off rather well then he regresses. He is accused of not hustling but goes on the DL with a "Strained Groin". He misses all of Spring training and basically all of the winter work other players put in. Yet posters on this board "Expect' and "Demand" he gets out of bed and produces the same as he did prior to the concussion.

To put it in one word.

This seems like a pretty good thing after reading the forum. The team would be a bigger mess if fans had control of anything.

it's not ,entirely his fault.look at all the errors,k's,double plays and woeful starters.plus, the bullpen has been overworked and is tired.9 straight games they have given up runs.

This is a "what have you done for me lately" industry. You're hired to get fired, you're promoted to get demoted. You retire young, and very few make it. I don't give a rats you know what about what Roberts did in 2005. I care about what Roberts can do NOW, for the Orioles, in 2012. We are currently over .500 in a playoff race. I'd like to keep it that way. I may be wrong, but the player might be able to stay in the minor leagues longer if he consents to it?!?!?! Does anybody know the rule on that. If so, obviously he should have consented to it because he batted .238 at Norfolk & .250 at Bowie. Those numbers don't scream "promote me". Like I said, Roberts should have been in the minor leagues until no earlier than the All Star break. I was also under the impression that concussion rehabs were always different than any other rehab because of it's greater liability.
