Picked up a MAJOR piece in D'arnaud. Couple of good prospects in Bucerra and Syndegaard. Added Marcum. Couple of nice additions in Hicks and Cowgill.

The Dickey trade and Marcum signing alone warrants an A+ in my book.

And he also didn't make any rash signings like Ross or Hairston. The signings and moves HE DID NOT make are also part of the A+.

Not at all. This offseason we added Travis D'arnaud, Shaun Marcum and Noah Syndegaard to the system. That's excellent. Do you know how difficult it is to land the top catching prospect in baseball?

We got Wheeler for arthritic kneed Beltran and then we got D'arnaud for rickety old 38 year old RA Dickey. Both trades are excellent.

No I can give him an A+...well, him personally he has done a great job with what little resources he has....but we still have NO OFers...

I'm hoping Cowgill can emerge as a legit regular RF. If Cowgill can hit .260/.340/.430 that's about an average corner outfielder.

Cowgill was a college pick and so he only has 5 years of pro experience. That's average for a high school pick coming into the major leagues. So, even though he's 27 now, he's still kind of a prospect.

i don't think signing Hairston for a 2 year/incentive laden contract totalling 6 million would have been rash,especially if we're entertaining Bourn and possibly spending 50-70 million depending on what/who you read

bottom line is i like Sandy and while the Dickey trade was an A+ i think the overall offseason is in the C+ range

an A+ IMO is a bit too high of a grade when at least as of this writing we've got no outfield and 4 rookies in the pen

I'd like to see Cowgill given the chance to lock down the RF job. I think he can legitimately hit .260/.333/.430 with good outfield defense. I know he hits lefties better but I don't like him as a platoon player. I think he can play regularly.

I don't see the point in giving so much money to essentially a HR specialist. All he does is hit HR's. I'd rather have a more versatile outfielder.

to me its gotta be at least a b- based solely on the fact that he waited out the pitching market for marcum and got max value for dickey, both solid A moves in my book....it gets pulled down by his inability to field an of but i put most of that on the budget restraints and the mlb cba scre*wing us big time

So the major league team (of a franchise coming off four losing seasons) doesn't get improved in ANY area and the GM gets an A+? You can't actually be serious.

you think Bourn is worth 70 million as compared to Hairston's 6 million?...i think signing Bourn for anything more than 36 million for three years is rash

So then you think the team will be successful?
