Think about that. With the Marcum signing rather than going to Hefner or Mchugh or Schwinden, we've now got Wheeler, Mejia, and Familia that can spot start. As well as Hefner and Mchugh. Even after the Dickey trade I'm still liking our starting pitching depth.

I suspect they'll still go with Hefner first. He pitched a very good game at the end of the seasosn.

Yeah maybe in April and early May. Anything after that though they're probably going to Wheeler. And they're going to have to shut down Wheeler in September so probably Mejia/Familia/Mchugh get some starts then. Maybe even Gorski too.

There is almost no way that Santana is pitching for the Mets in August. If he is still healthy, which is no given, he will most assuredly be traded at the deadline. He is not part of the plan long term and if we can get anything of value for him, all the better.

Never said he was. I personally think Gee is the odd man out. I have never been a Gee fan, but I do think he would be at least a fine long man in the bullpen.

No reason to bring Wheeler up until they are sure he's ready. No reason to

a) start the arbitration clock
b) use up an option year

unless they need him, or he appears to be ready to come up to stay

But he was never used in any kind of rhythm(sp). If given normal rest and a regimen why couldn't he compete, he is a tricksy little fellow.

They would love to trade Santana and if he gets off to a good start....it's see you Johan....time to bring up Wheeler and that would make good sense....My only concern is that Gee,Santana,and Marcum are all coming off injuries.....What are the odds that all 3 are healthy?.....That depth is going to be accessed fairly soon
