For a team in desperate need of outfielders, we can't even sign Scott Hairston. I am astounded at the ineptitude of this front office. Young signs with Phil for a lot less then Hairston received and somehow we can't get a proven OF that can hit left handed pitching.

I hope that the Mets get that 11th pick protected and pull off Michael Bourne to lead off but the Mets still need someone who can hit left handed pitching. It's sad that a big market franchise is being run like this. The Braves, Phillies and Nationals are all loaded for bear right now and we can't get out of our own way to put together a closer and some outfielders. At least they did something right in signing Marcum for the rotation.

I think we were and still are aiming higher than Hairston.
We can't have 6 platoon OFs on the squad.

I am not too high on Bourne but I will take him for 1-3 years.
he is a clear upgrade over what we have now

When hairspray hits his usual 250 or less with 10 hr's this year you'll understand why 2 years 6 mil is not worth it for him. I didn't want him last year but could have lived with him for a similar contract to last year. Money being tight means you have to get the most bang for your buck. Hairston isn't that.

Yeah, that 6 mil is being spent much more efficiently on Fat Frank.
