Royals more interested in Niese anyway. What if we traded Dickey to Texas for Olt and then traded Niese and Flores for Myers + 1?

The outfield would be very good at the corners for a while. It would deplete our current pitching, but we do have reinforcements that will be ready by 2014.

So rotation after this:

Harvey
Santana
Gee
McHugh
Wheeler

Would never happen, and we probably shouldn't anyway, would kill our rotation for next year.

After Mchugh had a great pitching performance his first start in the majors
Hi stunk up the place big time in all his other starts.

Oh yeah, I'm well aware lol. But scouts rave about him having the ability to be a major league starter, just not a top of the rotation guy. He's a rookie, he'll need some time. But he'll be on the team at some point in the future.

I think Hefner is a lot better than McHugh anyway (Hefner reminds me of the kind of pitcher the Brave make 20 game winners).

I like Hef too. Both him and McHugh have big league futures with the team, either rotation or pen.

Mejia and Familia would be next up unless you are including them in the trades.

Royals wouldn't do Niese and Flores for Myers

Would you have accepted Niese for David Wright when he was a prospect? If the answer is no, which I'm sure it is, why would you expect the Royals to want Niese for Myers?

They would, assuming the R's need a good starter! Niese is "message board garbage" among a very few foolish people. Niese is a young serviceable lefty with considerable value. Meyers is a top prospect with a high ceiling, but still yet unproven.

So a rotation of 3 question marks and 2 pieces of trash.

the way this whole thing should have evolved was when Tampa Bay was starving for offense and a first baseman,Davis should have been offered along with Murphy for Hellickson (or Moore if the deal could be expanded) and maybe a younger pitching prospect like Archer or even further down like Guerreri

Wright could have been dealt as well,to the Angels or to the D-backs or to the O's and others (Angels CJ Cron and Cowart for eg,D-Backs for Skaggs,Davidson; O's inquiring about Bundy)

THEN Dickey could have been sent to the Rangers for Olt and maybe a Font

now you've picked up 2 or 3 more starters in deals as well as a couple of young position prospects and you can package Niese,Gee,and Familia for Myers plus a lesser prospect,for example,and still have enough depth at SP to not be hurt and in fact have a stellar young rotation for years to come:

Harvey
Wheeler
Hellickson
Skaggs or Archer or Bundy or Font etc

at least we would have had some flexibility

at this point making an isolated deal for Olt would hurt our pitching and certainly not be enough of an impact move to be anything other than a single move when we need multiple moves to re-build the depth of this franchise

But that is not what the OP suggested anyway. He said, Neise and Flores, for "Myers+1".

The Mets would absolutely do that in a second.

Again, I like Niese... But he's not an ace. Myers would anchor the lineup for years. Flores and Niese for Myers would get done in a second.

Here's a crazy idea. Ike Davis to Tampa for Shields, Dickey to Texas for Andrus, Andrus to Arizona for Upton, Shields to KC for Myers. Play Duda at first while Flores converts to first at AAA.

One word: Championship.

Royals are pretty full at 3B, 1B and DH through 2015 (Moustakas, Hosmer, Butler).
