Just in case you didn't realize how awful Bay has truly been, this WSJ article's a real eye opener:

Bay hasn't come to this point out of laziness or not caring. Despite what the article says, I still wonder if something is physically wrong with him....or it could be mental. The drop off has been so pronounced, whether he admits or not, his confidence could be completely shot and he's expecting to fail...and he does, alot more often than not. The Wilpons need to cut bait with him before next season. Maybe if he played in Seattle or some other city, he could get a new lease on his career. One thing is for sure, it isn't going to happen here, nor should he get another chance next season.

Bay seems like a decent guy; but he's become a historically terrible baseball player. Whether it was performance enhancing drugs, cozier stadiums or being younger, something has happened that has made him a complete liability. Any other team would release him after this year, who knows though, with this organization.

Mulitple concussions certainly don't help. That would make anyone gunshy. Could be his vision or reflexes are affected, too.

He wasn't exactly setting the world on fire before the first concussion.

Far better than he is now, but we were still looking for the "real Bay" back then.

We know how Awful Bay's been, that's why they should send him down to AAA
if he goes down there and does no better then they can release him outright,
but if he goes down there and catches fire then they can give him another shot
(after all even Ollie Perez has gotten his game back now so I guess nothing is impossible).
