    • Which player do you think is better, Davis or Duda

<<I've been saying Duda is better for two years. And been scapegoated for it.>>

"That's pretty incredible! When Ike was hitting .300 and on pace for like 130 RBI you were saying Duda was the better player even when he was hitting like .200 in June? That's weird because I remember everyone on this board saying he was just another guy that could kill it in AAA but couldn't cut it in the majors. Davis was by far their best hitter up until May when he got hurt."

Told you Duda was better.

Even Davis said that Duda is a better hitter then he is.

Duda is a more patient hitter, and has a better chance of hitting for XBH (not just HRs). Duda can also play the OF as well as 1B. Ike can ONLY play 1B.

Duda all the way. I wish he would be more aggressive.

Ehhh, we're all fickle. At the end of last season, 90% of us were behind Ike and Duda was a bum

Can I answer "none" is better than each other? Better implies an element of good.

Davis... Duda is a terrible LF. Of course, he is playing there because Ike is playing 1B. But I think Ike is better defensively at 1B than Duda and neither has distinguished themselves at the plate. But that is part of why the Mets organization is so dysfunctional. One of them should have been traded by now. Murphy should have been traded by now as well. I don't think any of these are part of the future (perhaps Davis if he bats 6th in the lineup with 30 homers) could be that guy.

Better than what? Neither one of them is playing at an acceptable level for their position right now.

Have you really been holding on to that for a whole year? Feel better now?

Personally I’m not sure either one of them is a major league player. Davis has taken huge steps backwards and Duda is barely a bench player. He hasn’t proven that he can hit enough to play left or 1B. His ONE skill appears to be that he is selective. Do you have any faith in him with an important run on the base late in a game? I think he's hitting about .120 with men on base. I’m someone that most people would call a kool-aider but I sure don’t want him up in an important spot. Right now Davis looks like he’d strike out hitting the ball off of a tee and looks NOTHING like the player he was a few years ago.

If I was making the decisions I'd move Flores over to 1B ASAP. He played there some last year so it's not like it would be totally unfamiliar. I'm not a big fan of the WAR stat but I read this morning that Davis is ranked 465 out of 468 MLB players.

As far as Duda being the better player goes when did he hit 30 hr? When did he hit 20 hr? When did he drive in more than 60 runs? At LEAST Davis has done that, Duda never has.

You can live with Murphy at 2b if he hits over .300 and drives in 75 runs but not if he's going to be a .270 hitter who drives in 50 runs. You can't live with Davis and Duda though. My ONLY point in saying that Davis is the better player is that you can point to something in his sistory and say he did it. He's a guy that has played very good defense, driven in 90 runs and hit 30+ hr. With Duda ALL you can say is he has the potential to do those things because he hasn't really come close to doing it. I like him, I root for him but I don't think he's shown enough to say he's a major league player.
