Would you be as critical or as enraged at Zimmerman if he was black?

....this isn't pretend...this is reality...get a grip on it already...changing the players doesn't change the crime...unless you need to change it to fit your agenda...

***Maher then says Obama should bypass Congress all the time. ***

It's called sarcasm. It's been a staple for comedians around the world since ancient Greece, though, admittedly its nuances often elude intellects more attuned to "Mad Libs for Your ADHD Toddler."

***His audience then applauds the non-existence of a creator, the entity that supplies our rights according to the U.S. Constitution.***

If such an entity existed, the Constitution would be unnecessary, as would all man-made rules of law. We need them precisely because there is no mystical space wizard in charge of delivering celestial justice via lightening bolts and plagues.

***I used to think this stuff was harmless but people are buying into this highly paid propaganda.***

Gee, ya think? And here I thought right-wing radio and the left-biased media were just myths. Or did you just think it was harmless until you heard something you didn't agree with?

***is in keeping with his part in supporting the esoteric agenda of the elite***

Or maybe he's just a wealthy entertainer buying a stake in a team he likes. Has there been a single event that has occurred in this country in the past 100 years that you HAVEN'T aligned with some nebulously conspiratorial network of insidious mind-controlling elitist overlords? Good grief. Learn a new song.

***What makes a Maher more dangerous than an O'Reilly is his appeal to the youth which is where the social engineers most often tip their hands when those watching the big picture look to see what future they're creating for us.***

Holy Hot Revelation on a Cracker, Batman! You've broken the code! The media and Madison Avenue have been after the YOUTH market all along! How did we not see this coming? How could we have been so blind? How diabolical! How devious! And all this time I was certain that the people who write the Daily Show and The Onion were just failing in their attempt to reach the Hover-Round and Depends demographic.

***Ironically I'm not much of a reader***

There is nothing ironic about that statement.

Zimmerman and his wife are in jail as a direct result of their lying. What makes you think Zimmerman didn't lie about how he killed martin?

***Does this Maher sarcasm include the tens of thousands innocent Libyans murdered another time Obama bypassed Congress. I'd love to hear Bill's clever wit on that one.***

It includes everything. Comedic sarcasm needs only time for an effective application. How long after September 11 were people making jokes about it? JFK? The Holocaust? As the saying goes, humor is tragedy plus time. Eventually you need to laugh at even the most serious subjects. And Maher is a humorist; he performs jokes and bits, delivers monologues, and writes books of humor, like Stewart and Colbert and Dennis Miller.

***While we may differ on the existence of a creator, that's not the point. The Constitution states our rights are provided by such, not the expert class that assumes that role in controlled societies.***

And in that, the Constitution is wrong. Its writers knew it would be, so they created amendments; therein lies its true genius. The point was that basic human rights are a birth right derived from common decency, not from a magical sky daddy who spoke through flaming shrubbery. The POINT, is that it is not an inviolable, ineffable, sacred document, but exactly the opposite, one that needs to be amended as human thought and knowledge progressed.

***Nobody is paying Maher that much money to offer only his own opinions. ***

Yes they are, because his opinions (and the way he delivers them) resonate with millions of people, in the same way as do Rush's, and O'Reilly's, and Hannity's. And there is money to be made in that. Isn't that the American way?

***Maher can invest his dirty money wherever he wants but it certainly doesn't surprise me that he seeks to run in monied circles.***

Dirty money? He's an entertainer not the leader of a drug cartel.

*** He's certainly not a man of the people anymore.***

When did he ever claim to want to be that??? He's not running for office, he's a freaking gag writer.

***You haven't learned anything over the years. ***

You don't have the slightest idea what I know or don't know. Stop pretending you do.

***A lot of doors have been opened for you here but you are too deeply entranced in the world created for you by those with much to gain. ***

Right, these baseball message boards are a veritable window to enlightenment and knowledge. I bask in the glow of the profound wisdom of the ages yet foolishly refuse to agree with your incisive insight into the way things "really" are.

***I don't read books, thus the irony with my screen name. ***

The irony of your screen name is that it professes some kind of deep understanding of a man who was a literary genius, and yet you admit you've never read him. That makes you a fanatical gas bag.

And as the man himself said, "One defeats a fanatic precisely by not being a fanatic oneself, but on the contrary by using one’s intelligence."

I find it funny that you think the whole world is out to get you yet still buy into the idea of a God hook, line and sinker. If there was anything built up to be nothing more than a way to control people, it's religion. Tell people they're being watched by some mystical being, say he has a bunch of laws for you to follow and threaten those people with an eternity of torture if they don't follow them. And all the while not offer any real justification.

Besides, it's the Declaration of Independence that claims the idea of God given rights, not the Constitution. I don't believe there is a single mention of God or a Creator in the Constitution and the only mention of religion is in the first amendment.

<<The Constitution states our rights are provided by such,>>

Perhaps you should stop foolishly worrying about Bill Maher and take an American history class.

It's the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution, that says our rights are provided by our Creator.

changing the players doesn't change the crime

It doesn't change the crime but it changes the perception of the crime. Youi've been on top of this case since it happened. At the same time, killings of blacks, by blacks, happened in Chicago, yet not a word about that from you. If Zimmerman was black, this case wouldn't have gotten the play it has. FYI I have no agenda. Let the courts do their work. Whatever the result, so be it.

...just like you and your ilk believe he was justified in killing an unarmed kid because he was a "thug" and was suspended from school...there are plenty of killings in the country but most are not covered up by the police, as in this case...I find it amusing that you think that flashing gang signs on a social media (facebook, twitter) makes a person dangerous...step out of the basement once in a while and stop watching so much TV...

...I've been on top of the case because it happened in my back yard, so to speak and the cover-ups by the police needs to stop...again, changing the players ("If Zimmerman was black...") doesn't mean anything since it more than just the crime but the lies that have been discovered from the police to Zimmerman and his wife...when I move to Chicage I'll get more involved if that'll make you feel better...
