Buehrle is about the only one who's performed but we signed him to a 4-year deal so we'll see how he is for the rest of it.
I'll give the FO a pass on Reyes. He's always done a good job of getting on base. The only thing with him is that we didn't need him. It was smart to move Hanley away from SS but I think our money would've been better spent on Fielder rather than a fast, get-on-base kind of guy. Some of it was based on defense, I'm sure - our defense has been bad for so long that we wanted to improve that, which Reyes should do.
As far as Bell, that's Beinfest's job to know that he was on the way down. There were signs, such as the dropping K-IP rate and Bell's terrible physical conditioning. I didn't think Bell would collapse like this but I'm not paid $1M a year to determine these things; Beinfest is.
Also, thinking that Gaby Sanchez could do the job was a mistake by the Front Office.
Signing Buck last season or giving a big contract to Nolasco were other mistakes. Even signing Hanley to the big contract has proven to be a mistake. And of course the big mistake - trading one of the top 10 RH hitters of all time and ending up with Edward Mujica and Ryan Webb to show for him. I don't know if any other GM in the game could've survived that disaster.
Lee has not been as good an acquisition as you'd think. He hit that Grand Slam and he's walking a bunch for us, but he's only batting .217 with just 2 XBH's. His OPS with the Marlins is .673. He's only hit 1 HR outside of Houston all season.
Sanchez has about as much trade value as anybody on the team so he'll be the first to go. But except for Stanton, they can all go as long as we get value back (it won't be equal value but as long as we don't give players away, I'm okay with it).
