In Ackley's defense, those aren't strikes, and it continues to irritate me that umpires believe that the plate is 17 inches wide until a left handed hitter is in the batter's box, then it grows 2 inches in only one direction.

Yes I agree. But it keeps happening to him ... from every pitcher ... from every umpire. If they are going to call it on you, you better do something about it.

Ackley is sitting today (Sunday). He's had an awful July.

If I were the Mariners, Smoak gets sent down Monday and Ackley is on a week's notice to shape up or get shipped down. He talked about not wanting to have his had forced. I don't see how these guys aren't forcing his hand. They are so far off from where they need to be at the MLB level right now, that they can't be taking any steps to develop.

Ackley to me is THE disappointment of 2012. Second overall pick from 2009, and he was so good in his time in the bigs in 2011. If this is more than a sophomore slump, it would be a huge setback for the Ms.

Heyward and Hosmer are pretty good examples of highly thought of guys doing poorly in their second years.

I think if Catricala were raking you could send Ackley down, shift Seager over to second and try him there, but as of right now there isn't a good replacement for Ackley.

I do hope that Carp comes up when his rehab is over and they send Smoak down. Talk about frustrating.

I think he has been hitless in the last 6 games but how many consecutive times at bat without a hit. It should be around 20 or so. Help.

Ackley just isn't that good. Hopefully he works on his game a lot in the offseason.
