It'll be happier if you don't bother to watch or listen to today's stinker from Noesi and our lineup that's making an opposing pitcher just recalled from AAA look like Cy Young material.

Back at ya, brother...

yeah, the game's a pile of dirt so far.
Hopefully, they'll bring in someone to finish pitching for us in the sixth.

My Fourth will get better later when the bbq starts.

All of you have a good Fourth.

This team is so embarrassing.

The front office will never get it.

We have owners who won't eat bad contracts, a GM who won't admit mistakes, and a manager who seemingly won't stand up to them and insist on playing the most productive players on his roster. Not a good combination. But I've said it before: I think the owners are deliberately jogging in place with an eye toward selling the team. They won't win because they don't plan to. It's not their goal. I think that turning the highest possible profit when they sell is what guides their management of the franchise. Spend as little as possible, renegotiate the TV deal, take the money and run.

Don't you love the symbolism? A player traded away to get Eric Bedard came two outs away from finishing off a complete game, one-hit shutout against our mighty M's.

Well, maybe we'll manage to break up the shutout before we make the last two outs.

Have some good food, watch some fireworks, and have a pleasant 4th of July evening.

It is the explanation that fits the behavior.

Yeah, but hey, aren't the M's supposed to be building? Building what, is yet another story. I think I'm smelling another last place finish, but hey, the kids are looking good, right? The Front Office is building toward the....................future?? IF, this is the future......................I think this team is in a whole lot of trouble, I mean, even more than they are now. Let's just sell the Front Office, the Manager and all the 'scouts', and start over again!

No buyer is going to prefer to have the current owners negotiate the TV contract. They'd want to do that themselves.

Start over again? So do what differently, exactly? Not give money to aging vets that won't be around long term. Draft young talent. What rebuilding process do you suggest? Because the teams that have rebuild INTO CONTINUAL CONTENDERS have taken the same process we are taking now.

happy 4th fox, I attended celebration at Mt.Rushmore. Got back to the RV nd my brother-in-law called and pointed out that the pitcher for the orioles was at one time a mariner, ouch. The reason this recalled pitcher did so well is he was pitching against a predominately AAA club. Sorry but I believe the Mariners are barely a big league club.

Let's see, Adam Jones goes yard and Chris Tillman shuts us down. Thanks Bill Bavasi.

I also think the present owners would prefer not to wait till 2015. That's why I posted this earlier:

"I'm thinking they'd love to sell the franchise right now, but they don't want to forfeit the increased value from a new TV deal. So they'll compromise and take whatever increase in value they can argue on the basis of a probable deal."

Happy Fourth, Dave. You really went the whole patriotic nine yards. Coincidentally, I spent some time, many years ago, visiting a guy I knew who lived in the Connecticut house where the Mt. Rushmore sculptor, Gutzon Borglum, lived and created the designs for the monument. It had a huge main room, all stone and wood with an enormous fireplace, and some cool photos of Borglum with mockups of the proposed sculpture.

I had my own nice 4th of July moment earlier tonight. I walked to the end of my block and looked down the street to watch the end of the Macy's fireworks display on the west side of Manhattan. Took a few phone cam movies of the show, but my phone's pretty cheesy. It was pleasant hanging with the small crowd on the street corner anyway.

Happy 4th! I was going to see the fireworks in San Diego harbor but my wife wanted to go to the county fair yesterday. I was bushed today but could see the fireworks from my place 15 miles from downtown.

I enjoyed the Macy's show. The last time I went was 2000-2001. They used to close off a chunk of the Belt Pkwy near Bayridge next to the Verrazano Bridge. They had several tugboats shooting them off on the harbor between downtown and Brooklyn IIRC.

I read that they cut down from six barges to four this year. Still looked great from where I was standing. It's cool to observe the celebration in a group representing immigrants from all corners of the world, in the city where Washington was inaugurated.
