Mariners Minor League Playoff Teams-

EVERETT AQUASOX- Eliminated form the NWL Playoff Division Series

CLINTON LUMBERKINGS- 1-1 Division Series and game tied right now vs. the Beloit Snappers (Minnesota Twins affiliate)

Ji-Man Choi- Remember him? He was a young Catching prospect and highly touted until he broke his back and missed the 2011 season. He’s making a re-mergence in the Minor League at Clinton. Long story short through 57 games in 2012 he’s putting up .306/.421/.497/.927 in a predominantly pitcher friendly league. No longer catching he’s spending time at 1B and DH and could be a legitimate future 1B for the M’s.

HIGH DESERT MAVERICKS- the Cal League Division Series starts on Sat 9/8 vs. TBD.

Boasts the top 3 hitters in the Cal League with Leon Landry, Miller, and Proscia

Leon Landry- Acquired from the Dodgers during the Trade deadline during the Brandon League trade. He was an All Star during the season with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, and since his time at High Desert finished the season as the Cal League Batting Champ.

JACKSON GENERALS- Won Game 2 against (Dodgers affiliate) Chattanooga Lookouts in the Division Series. Game 3 will be played at Chattanooga

Mike Zunino- Will be assigned to the Arizona Fall League. He drove in a double with an RBI Game 1, In Game 2 which went final he also hit a double and 2 HR’s pulling the Generals ahead with the lead.

Johermyn Chavez who was DFA’d earlier cleared waivers and played in the lineup for Game 2.

Non Playoff Teams-

TACOMA RAINERS-

DJ Mitchell- Acquired from the NY Yankees during the Ichiro trade is putting up better numbers in the with the M’s than he was with the International League pitching for the AAA SWB Yankees. Keep in mind that the PCL is more hitter friendly than the INT.

Danny Hultzen- Had a rough go of it as he pitched more at Tacoma. In his last game he finally had a more decent outing. The consensus is that he’s probably out of gas and is need of some valuable off season time to condition and get ready for the 2013 season.
Factor in that that he was a fast riser in the system played Arizona Ball, Spring Training with the M’s and a busy workload between AA and AAA.

Seattle Mariners Minor League system rated the # Organization of all MLB teams with 5 their prospects in the MLB overall newly ranked top 100 prospects. Taijuan Walker #5, Danny Hultzen #9, Nick Franklin #31, Mike Zunino #51, James Paxton #81

I'm probably missing a few prospects or more that are newsworthy, and if you feel like mentioning any feel free. These are just some quick notes that I thought were important to know.

"Seattle Mariners Minor League system rated the # __ Organization of all MLB teams with 5 their prospects in the MLB overall newly ranked top 100 prospects."

There seems to be a numeral missing here, and I'm hoping it's a one.

; )

In any case, thanks for that very informative post. Great job!

It was número uno. It was either autocorrect or a typo.

Clinton won and moves on to the next round.

I forget to mention there was a comparison between Kyle Seager and Brad Miller's Minor league stats a couple days ago. It was on Twitter from a Mariners Fox Sports correspondent that covers the minors.

@randallball: Just noticed that Brad Miller had exact same PA this year as Kyle Seager did in his '10 season, 643. Seager 192 H, Miller 186. #Mariners

@randallball: Brad Miller bested Kyle Seager's numbers from that year in XBH and TB by 5, BB by 3, SB by 10. Seager had 11 fewer SO. #Mariners

@randallball: Worth noting also that Seager played that entire season in High Desert, Brad Miller played 40 games in Double-A Jackson. Both were 22yo.
