Tough to believe trading for a pitcher with a bad arm didn't work...

I just heard this a little bit ago. That blows but it's the way trades work out around here, as of late.

How many people think this comes as a big surprise???? Marson a backup and always will be, Knapp career over before it even started, Donald not even wanted on a pathetic 2012 Indians team, Carrasco, after surgery who knows what he will be like but before the surgery he looked like a head case whenever runners got on base. And to think Shapiro gave up a Cy Young winner for this bunch.

Oh yeah and Hoynsie, your nothing but a tool.

When you trade for a guy who already has shoulder problems and he is a pitcher the odds are already against you that the deal will work out.

Boy, this Hoysie is a "homer". Is he on Dolan's payroll as well? What a "tool" is right!

Looking at the info and what each of the players received by the Indians had done that was a good trade. No it has not turned out yet and may not.

They gambled and went for 2 high upside pitchers. That's something they should have done.

I read some of his answers and started thinking I was reading stuff that the front office fed to the media. He is a big time "homer".

Cannot believe the things Hoynes is saying, I had more respect for him, but the truth comes out.....yea, Amaro really swindled Shapiro in this deal, but of course the ray ray boys love Shapiro and say he's so well respected around the league..LOLOL Imagine having a Cy Young pitcher available and end up with injured players, no talent, just awful, I say all three go, Shapiro, Antonetti, and Acta, ( won't get thrown out)....we are the laughing stock of the Major Leagues...and ya know what is telling??? It's the silence from Mark, Chris, and Dolan....pinch me I must be dreamin'

I didn't like the trade to start with when I read about Knapp and then I think Donald and Marson had both been on the DL before the trade so to me it was like a straight up deal of Lee for Carrasco. I have to say Carrasco reminds me of another Carmona when runners get on base, he implodes. Since Lee had a year and a half left before he became a free agent I didn't think they got near enough for him in return.

I have not always been impressed with what he writes because too many times he seems to be taking the team side in everything and giving answers that people want to hear. Boston swindled Shapiro in that deal where he just had to have Andy Marte no matter what it took and to get him Shapiro had to take Mota in that deal also, and then the Lee deal Shapiro got took to the cleaners once again plus the return from Milwaukee of Brantley for another Cy Young winner to showed why everyone around the league respects Shapiro, they sit home at night hoping he would call to make a deal with them. Maybe some people call it respect I call it a guy who you can dump your throwaways, has beens and never will be on.

Mark and Chris are in shock that the left handed heavy lineups didn't work out and then they were really quiet as the trade deadline came and went so they picked up Lillibridge to make it look like they really were hard at work on improving the team. Now it has to be the shock that the contending team they promised everyone since 2009 is now 9 and 1/2 games out of 1st place, on a 9 game losing streak and falling like a rock. Nobody will hear from them until they can come up with some new BS on how they have plans to improve the team going into 2013. Too little too late for all the years of planning.

What's laughable when you really think about the situation is that we "have to" make a trade for Brent Lillabridge, instead of simply giving Jason Donald a shot (for a utility role).

Things to consider:
Both can play the same positions
Lillibridge is a full year older than Donald
Lillibridge .213 BA/.625 OPS in 617 major league PA's
Donald .265 BA/.685 OPS in 522 major league PA's
Donald has shown he's a hardworker within organization (many raved this spring)
Have a lot "invested" in Donald having been part of Cliff Lee deal
Have to make an additional trade to add Lillibidge

Moves like these are the real head scratchers. What has Donald done to not get a shot, especially after playing so well down the stretch last year? I think over the last year or so we are really starting to see the reason why no one wants to play for the Indians or even be in their organization.

Didn't get near enough in return, would beg to differ. .. The 2 pitchers were rated to be 1 - 2 and a catcher at least ave in ML. Donald not expected to be ML at short.

Knapp not diagnosed for shld op until months later but you knew it prior to trade? Originally thought to be tendonitis.

Carrasco had a 4 to 5 game allowing about 2 runs a game, during it a shutout of the Yanks. Did that impress you at all?

The trade of Colon to bring Lee and Sizemore to the Tribe was criticised for yrs on this board. Were you part of that and can now criticize the trading of Lee.

The trades for Baldo and Anderson Tribe gave way more value than the players they received at that time. Maybe the GM now looks back 2 yrs as to what the player is.

Yes, this is a head scratcher, you would think Drennan, Hoynes, or other writers talk show hosts would ask these questions, but they DON'T It's like others are in on the 'fix".....very peculiar indeed ;-)

Decisions that have been made this year are the reasons fans are not showing up. Now we ahould have been PLAYING LaPorta and Donald full time at some positions. The FO tried to bluff it"s way through the season with saying the team is built on pitching and defense. Kotchman and Hannahan have been inconsistent with the bats. Now they play gold glove defense I was one of the guys that like them bothand said they should stay because of the defense. I would not have waited to the break to call up AAA replacements though. They did bring up Chizzy abd he got injured. That happens in baseball. They are not giving SS and Kipness many days off. they should have had Donald up just after Chizzy hit the DL. Many bad decisions as I said. LaPorta should have been playing daily since his call up. I don't care what anybody projects lets see it happen it isn't going to be any worse than what happened. I don't like the double talk from Shapiro about not saying bad things about a player. Let the people decide how bad it is. They also made a serious mistake not getting outside help that was very cheap.

They passed on willingham for an additional year. Stupid. Then the passed on Youk. Stupid. Then they passed on the pitcher. Stupid. All these players were relatively cheap. The fans are going to start holding the FO and Dolan accountable. They have used all the spin and smoke and mirrors they can and it is going to be time to pay the pipper soon. We will see if Dolan does want a winner or just pofits.

The recent trades are just BS. They are NOTHING of value added to the team. I don't see the reason for them at all. Now with the FO not talking and the owner not talking not good.

If the reporters ask the tough questions and continue with follow ups they would never be at another PC. I would not doubt they have to submit questions prior to the PC.

Joe you are correct As I remember Knapp was already on the DL AT TIME OF THE TRADE. The other two just off the DL. I NEVER liked it trading and having a guy already on the DL. Some poster here are just trying to spin it. I remember it just as you do buddy.

I have never liked or trusted Shapiro from day one here. I also believe Hart knew they would be serious about a winner. HE LEFT.

I didn't like the Colon trade at the time either.

Just some random thoughts.

That's why I'm sure a certain someone on this board is employed by Mark and Chris somehow, the typical supporting of the top brass with spin. Now I know Hoynes is involved as well. Greg Brinda has called for Manny's head, and he's seen some terrible teams during his years as a baseball talk show host, although he's a bit 'showbiz' like Rizzo and his clown Hammer. Sure folks around the league SAY they respect Chris and Mark, heck they want them around so they can continue to take advantage of them thru trades!!LOL Imagine, KNAPP was injured and we KNEW it, still we made that deal. I'm off work this week, so I'll be listening to Drennan and get his take. I'm hoping will get the ball rolling, so maybe some heads will fall. But this will show me for sure, whether he's a spinner or will TELL it LIKE it is. Agree with your posts. Despite what the rah rah's say, you have support here from my side for what it's worth. Keep it up!! We complain and critique because we CARE about this team and the direction it's going, despite what other's here think. Thanks!!!

"I didn't like the Colon trade at the time either"

Uh..you do know how well that trade worked out for the Indians right?

No doubt about it, the Lee trade is quickly looking like a complete disaster for the Tribe. Knapp was on the DL but it was believed to be a simple matter of shoulder fatigue at the time we traded for him. Teams trading players are not required to release any medical records if they don't want to. It's a shame really, kid had a very bright future if he could have just stayed healthy.

Marson and Donald are the only two current viable players we got out of the deal, a backup catcher and a utility infielder, so obviously that doesn't speak very highly of the trade. All we can do is hope that Carrasco can come back healthy next season and shed any amount of positive light on that move. The Sabathia deal was not a bad move, and even if LaPorta doesn't turn out to be ANYTHING, we still received about 8 years of Michael Brantley for two months of CC on a team that wasn't going to win with or without him. But in the Lee deal, we surely could have done better than this.

As I said I am not 100% sure they are submitted first But they do ask softball questions. They are supposed to be sports writters so I would expect more probing in depth questions and follow ups when they evade with their answers. I am also sure they would not be asked back if one of the Brass got embarassed on TV.
