What moves would you make? Personally, I would only make one. I'd cut Lopez and replace him with Barnes. Our starters <suck so bad that we need more arms and it's good to give some of our potential future players some MLB experience, as long as they're not going to be riding the pine.

I don't know why we'd bring up LaPorta, Goedert, or Fedroff if they're just going to be used as part-time players. This season is a loss, and I'd rather them getting some minor league ABs.

If I were Dopelan/Cheapiro/Antonnitti, I would concider hari-kari.

It seems like a lot of fans want that Baba Booey guy called up.

Guys I would like the Indians to consider in free agency (with our pathetic payroll)

C/1B - Mike Napoli - Long shot, but if the Rangers put all their money in the Hamilton deal, might not be enough to sign Napoli. Can play C or 1B. Maybe move Santana to 1B full time, Napoli at C, and Marson the backup.
2012: 89 Games: .232 Avg/.446 SLG/.799 OPS, 17 HR, 40 RBI

1B - James Loney - If they decide to keep Santana behind the plate, they need a replacement at 1B. Not a lot of viable options out there for 1B. If they do not resign Kotchman, Loney might be the best available in our price range.
2012: 99 Games: .255 Avg/.337 SLG/.643 OPS, 2 HR, 29 RBI

LF - Delmon Young - Huge hole in left field. Love how Carrera is playing right now, but seems more like the 4th outfielder for next year. Right handed bat, and to top it off, I'm tired of watching him crush us.
2012: 97 Games: .264 Avg/.402 SLG/.698 OPS, 12 HR, 44 RBI

LF - Ryan Ludwick - I'm sure the Reds would try and bring him back, but fits our payroll. Maybe we can outbid them. Ha. Big right handed bat playing well this year.
2012: 82 Games: .260 Avg/.546 SLG/.874 OPS, 19 HR, 57 RBI

SP - Edwin Jackson - Has some control issues, but could be a nice #3 type player in the rotation.
2012: 20 Starts: 6-7 Record/.357 ERA/1.198 WHIP/96 K to 39 BB

Just throwing out some names and options as an Armchair GM seeing as this season is over.

Unfortunately, I think the Rangers will resign Napoli but not Hamilton. I think Napoli would be one of the best ways to improve our team too, shame. I don't know about Delmon Young, I might rather go with Carrera. Delmon Young has not impressed me. Maybe Baba Booey will develop and fill our needs.

Brandon McCarthy would be a great starting pitcher we should go after, but I'd rather trade off Choo, Perez, Masterson, and Cabrera. Get some top AA prospects, have them up here in 2014, and have our current A guys up here in 2015.

BUT before we deal any of those guys, replace Antonetti with some that will get us good players. If we trade Choo for a future Brent Lillibridge, I would be done with this franchise.

I agree with all those trades, especially Cabrera. Our system is so chock full of SS prospects that come 2014, chances are someone will be ready. And of course, ditch Antonetti and Shapiro. They're complete failures.

DFA Lopez, bring up Donald for utility INF/OF

Replace Seddon with Hernandez in a week or two

Option Tomlin to AAA, call up Barnes for bullpen

DFA Duncan, call up Geodert for LF and 1B

DFA Kotchman, call up Fedroff or Anderson

Yes, they will be seeing a little less playing time here than they would be in Columbus, but these guys don't have anything else to prove in the minors. Give Carrera and Goedert a bunch of time in left. Give Goedert and Anderson a bunch of time at first. Bring Barnes in when you'd normally be going to Sipp. Leave Kluber in the rotation the rest of the year and see if he can improve.

Rangers sound like they're interested in re-signing Napoli but aren't so sure about Hamilton. If they do sign Napoli, they'll probably non-tender Soto...wouldn't mind using Marson as a trade chip and signing Soto as the backup catcher, or a platoon catcher. Down year offensively, but strong offensive history and has always hit lefties well.

I like Loney if the price is right. He's a lot like Kotchman in that he plays great D and can't touch left-handed pitching. Stil need a RH answer at first if we were to pick up Loney.

Ryan Ludwick is just about the most inconsistent hitter in baseball. He was awesome in 07 and 08 with the Cards, then was just average in 09 and 2010, then was awful in 2011, and now he's back to being awesome. He's hitting lefties a ton this year, but historically he's actually had a reverse split, so it's hard to say if he's really a lefty-masher like we need. Definitely a better option than what we have in house, just depends on his price tag because I certainly wouldn't consider him a great free agent.

Cincy holds an option on Ludwick and is likely to keep him at a good price
