    • Q&A with Tyler Naquin

As President of the Rah-Rah fan club I am required to start these types of threads every so often to ensure that absolutely zero negative thoughts come into the minds of Tribe fans.

FanGraphs writer David Laurila recently conducted an interview with Tribe first round pick Tyler Naquin. The interview talks about his approach, his swing, the draft process, etc. Laurila starts the article by saying that Naquin has "future batting champion" written all over him. It's a very interesting piece that really sheds some light on the type of kid we drafted. He's extremely well-educated as far as his swing and he sounds like he has a very simplified approach at the plate:

Are you coming to the next meeting? I'm thinking about making cup cakes with the faces of Antonetti, Shapiro, Acta, and the Dolans imprinted on every one.

I'm only showing up if you make the Hafner ones again! The last time you ate them all before I arrived Adaree!

I wasn't crazy about the pick, but it makes more sense after seeing their approach in rounds 2-6. They had to go over-slot on a good amount of high school arms, and taking a guy like Naquin who is already very advanced and close to the majors (compared to most draftees) allowed them to add a lot of impact talent to a system that badly needs it.

"future batting champion" written all over him? Wonderful news!! Great okay so we now we can add him with Lindor another great prospect, and get us that power right handed hitting bat we all know we need. And who says we don't have enough to get Upton?!!

At this point I'd much rather keep Naquin, Lindor, and Aguilar for our future...

He sounds like a "baseball player" and he seems to the know the game very well. He sounds like a similar hitter to a Michael Brantley.

I'll bring the Chief Wahoo cake

Not sure if he was the best pick but they did manage to sign all of their first 16 picks.

But seriously I like the Naquin pick. .300 hitters are fun to watch.

Yeah could be a good comparison with Brantley as far as the bat, and the thing I love about Naquin is he's got a gun.

We've come up with our own brand of Arnold Palmer tea...the Travis-Hafner-Kool-Aid...rose-tinted glasses will be supplied at the door.

I can't wait to see how he grows into a bona fide MLB hitter. You think he will be projected to be a number 2 hitter?

Depends on how his power develops... top of the order for sure. I see him a lot like kipnis when he came out of asu...less raw power but better bat control and contact ability.
