He has slowed down quite a bit but has a great average on the road, just struggles at Petco(which isn't unusual, do you think we will get him? (Mlbtraderumors) is saying we have inquired about him but I am sure just like most of you, I know that doesn't mean anything half the time, just to say "we tried" lol. but seriously? Yes or no on Quentin if we could make it happen?

It depends on how much the other teams are looking g into him. We have the stuff to get him, but maybe not if the Pirates and Reds are going all in. We also should be looking at headley and Victorino.

I thought I read somewhere that San Diego isn't as interested in trading Quentin as they are Headley. They could just be saying that to try and get more for him though, who knows. I think they will end up trading Quentin.

Quinten is going to be an interesting trade piece this summer. He isn't going to be worth as much as he would have been in year's past, because whoever acquires him isn't going to get a compensatory when his contract expires. That means the Padres' asking price is going to have to come down in they want to move him.

Sounds like we could possibly be a good fit. Not that I would want to lose a couple of our young players that I'm currently excited about, that list is short.

Maybe that's why I've heard that they don't really want to move him. Maybe the risk of just keeping him and seeing what happens is more worth than what they'd get for him. I don't know.

Yeah this new CBA has put in place some ridiculously complicated stipulations dealing with free agent compensation. In the past, a team like the Indians could conceivably put together a really good package to trade for a guy like Quinten, knowing the chances of him accepting their arbitration offer would be low. They'd then receive a pick or two in compensation for losing him as a free agent, lessening the blow of dealing their own prospects. Look no further than the CC trade as evidence of this. The Brewers never would have included BOTH Brantley and LaPorta if they didn't believe they'd be getting compensation picks when CC left at the end of the 08 season.

According to MLB trade rumors, the Indians are trying pretty hard for Quentin, but both sides 'dont seem to have much common ground' so it doesn't look too good for us...

Yeah, just posted that in the Trade Deadline discussion thread...it's hard for me to take these types of rumors real seriously to be honest. I'm sure there are a lot of teams trying to acquire Quinten, and I'm sure most of their offers are far off from what the Padres want. I don't think much common ground will be found with him until late July. It'd be nice to get him, but I think we'd be better off pulling a quick trade for a complimentary piece like Ross or Hairston before Quinten is dealt anywhere else.

Well I believe the rumor is that the Padres are looking for starting pitchers. Would you give up Kluber or Mcallister and a B prospect to get him? Personally I'd only do that if Quentin had another year. But giving up even more SP prospects after giving them all away last year for a half year rental?

Kluber yeah, McAllister no...but they probably wouldn't do it for Kluber and a B prospect.

At this point I would be afraid to deal McAllister. He has replaced another starter that was getting hammered. It seems that dealing McAllister would fill one hole and open another, if McAllister keeps pitching decently.

At least Mcallister would be a hole every five games instead of every single game.

The D-Backs want a ridiculous return and Upton is having an average season.
