Dear Indians F.O. and fellow posters; can we all agree that the Indians navy and navy/red caps are very odd looking?

The Chief Wahoo logo is way WAY undersized for the hat. We are the only team in baseball with a logo that small (i don't count the cubs or tigers because they just have a letter on their hat). I held up my Black Indians "C" cap to the navy one in the team shop...it is crazy how small that logo is. It looks like it belongs on a children's hat, instead of an adults. The youth versions of the caps are actually more proportionate than the adult versions.

I just want 2 simple changes, nothing too serious (and they would drive up merchandise sales as well dolan!).

1. Take away the Navy and go with the black like the teams in the 90's had.
2. Enlarge the Wahoo logo on the front of the caps to match that of all other 32 major league teams.

I would purchase 2 hats tomorrow if i saw those in the store and i am an extremely poor/cheap person.

i for one always hated the ultra-dark navy caps - they were so dark that people (such as yourself) actually thought they were black. the caps never matched the navy in the uniform- too dark. you refer to the cap as black but in the link it says "dark navy" - my point exactly.

the navy caps now match the navy contained in the uniforms much better. personally i think the navy with the red block C road cap is the sharpest we have.

Agree Steve, the large Wahoo looks best as far as I'm concerned, IMHO.

You can always write to Mark Shapiro about that he is the designer of the new uniforms. I would believe he designed the hats as well.

that is a good point about the all navy hats. Really, if they would just change the home navy/red and make wahoo a normal size again, i would be fine. The light navy does match the navy alt jersey, but the light navy/red doesn't match the home uniform, the navy is much darker on the home unis than the cap.

I don't know why that bothers me so much, because of the much more important things this team needs to fix, but if they want to sell merch and at least match; they need to change the logo and hats.

I think the NFL is smart about their marketing because they are constantly changing merch up. New hats, jackets, shorts, even minor changes to jerseys (apparently the Browns have changed jerseys more than any other team over the last 20 years...because they add a stripe, take one away, and so on almost every other season).

and the red home caps don't match the red "INDIANS"on the creme uniforms. the red on the jerseys is reminiscent of the mid-to-late 60s - more of a blood or jewel red. the caps just seem to be a brighter shade.

i notice this stuff, too - obviously.

yes! thank you! If they want it to match, they need to make them the red that the D-Backs use for their hats

The Block C hat is burying Wahoo in sales.

"Hot Hat

It's not just a Tribe hat anymore. The Indians' road cap, navy blue with a red block C, has become a signifier of town pride and a major fashion trend. The single-lettered cap, standing for both city and team, pairs well with the shop-local movement, the ball-cap element of hip-hop style and the ever-growing lines of Cleveland-themed clothing. Greenhouse Tavern and Noodlecat chef Jonathon Sawyer has been photographed wearing it. The Indians introduced it in 2008 as their alternate home cap, designing the C to echo Tribe caps of decades past, including similar block Cs that date back to the 1910s. The team promoted it to the big show this season, making it their main road hat, fueling its popularity. Its sales are up 135 percent over 2010, according to Indians spokesman Curtis Danburg. Move over, Wahoo: The navy hat and its new cousin, the red-with-blue-C alternate home cap, now account for two-thirds of authentic Indians cap sales."

That is true, but one reason is because they are newer (which is why if i were the Indians i would put out a new on the field cap almost every year, for sales). Plus, as i stated earlier, the wahoo hat looks stupid now because of the tiny logo.

I agree with this I bought the new C hat because I hate the shade of blue of the Wahoo hat plus the Wahoo is too small.

I agree that the sales are a bit misleading because the hats with the block "C" are newer. I like the new hats but I like the Chief Wahoo hat the best. Oh heck to be honest I like them all! My favorites are the 1959-64 and the 1963-69 hats. I have bought the 1948, 1954, 1973, 1982, Chief Wahoo, and the new block "C" hats. I am going to get the 1920 hat sometime if they still have them.

I am still trying to find a vest from the 1960's but am having trouble finding a website to get one. I love those vests from 1963-69 with Chief Wahoo on it and I love those hats.

The ultra-dark navy cap is the same color as the yankees caps.Actually, that was the last indians cap that i bought and still wear when i wear a baseball cap.It also had the very large chief wahoo on it.After that cap wahoo was reduced in size ever since.I only bought that cap because it looks like it's black.I don't think you can buy an indians cap that's black but i know they sell them in pink.I'm not much for worrying about being color coordinated but then again i haven't had a subscription to GQ in quite a few years.

"Newer" has little to do with it, when the "Script I" hats were never as popular as the Block C.

I forgot to mention that I bought one of those too. The reason was because it was newer. I have to admit I like the block "C" better than the script "I".
