Anyone watching? Will watch? Won't watch? Will never watch?

PS - I reccomend watching the Cal Ripken WS championship (which, IMO, should be aired on ESPN... Every game, not just championship.) on MLBNetwork in a few weeks.

I'll be watching for sure. One of the many awesome things about baseball is that it's still awesome to watch at pretty much ANY level over 7 years old.

I've gotta tell you BP, and sorry if I'm hijacking here but... I'm kind of annoyed that my local league is getting no love. I coach my son's team in Toro PONY here in Salinas and the Bronco (11 & 12 year olds) all star team made the Western Regional World Series which is played every year in Monterey.

The Petaluma L.L. team that went down for their regional tournament in San Bernardino deserves every bit of the attention they've gotten and I'm happy for those kids. Amy G mentioned them during a Giants game and then Murph and Mac interviewed them on KNBR the next morning. I texted them after they mentioned them again a couple days ago and just kind of said "Hey, how about a little love for Toro Park PONY down in Salinas. They're 3-1 in the PONY Western WS after beating St. Joe's Illinois, Puerto Rico and Sinaloa Mexico." "Listeners down here can come and show these kids some support in the semi finals."

The next segment Murph says "We're getting a lot of emails and texts about some team in Sunnyvale and some team in Salinas but listen these Petaluma kids are the boys of summer, I don't know about PONY and all that but this is Little League, this is the real deal..." or something to that extent. Man, I was annoyed beyond belief. I'm sure he didn't mean it but it came off as totally disrespectful, as if these kids weren't working just as hard and playing competitive teams. It's the same exact thing as what the Petaluma team is doing just in PONY rather than Little League.

I know it sounds petty to get annoyed by the lack of attention but I see these kids hop the fence at the local school and work their tails off taking BP and grounders with their dads and working hard to get where they're at. I love to see the Petaluma L.L. team get recognized but here's a group of kids who are doing the same thing and Murph and Mac can't take 20 seconds to break from playing remake Vogelsong songs and talking about the Greatful Dead to recognize these kids and just remind people in Monterey Bay that they can go watch a great tournament and cheer on a local team?!

I get that they saw Amy G recognize Petaluma on TV because she's from Petaluma and they jumped all over it, but 20 seconds to support some local youth ballers playing within their airwaves?!

Anyways, sorry to highjack BP, but clearly I needed to get that off my chest. lol

Anyone who wants check them out, they play El Dorado Hills today at 5:00 in the semi finals at Jack's Park in Monterey. The winner plays in the final game against either Chinese Taipei or Corpus Christi, TX tomorrow and moves on.

OK, got that out of the way...carry on.

Hi CenCoastFan, my 12 year old played in the Bronco Super Regionals in San Jose. Unfortunately, the SF team was knocked out making it as far as the final 4. It is a shame that PONY baseball doesn't get the same recognition as Little League. Watch out for that El Dorado Hills team you're up against next. Word has it from our regionals that this is a travel ball team, not a local all star team. That showed when they bulldozed everyone in our tournaments. Good luck.

Yea I understand. :)

3 years ago my team, Pacific Southwest, went to the Cal Ripken world series in Aberdeen, Maryland. Florida beat Mexico in the championship, and we placed 6th. **Although, still upset over our 2-2 pool play... I feel like we could've gone 4-0 at least 3-1.** I used to watch little league and wonder if these kids were the best.

But I played 4/5 straight years of Cal Ripken rules and facing Cal Ripken teams and it made me realize how much better competition is outside of little league. The rules are more "baseball-like" If you know what I mean. Deeper fences, no pitch limit, further bases, leadoffs, etc. that's the reason why I's prefer having CRWS being shown on ESPN. Just my view point. Still I have nothing wrong with LLWS, I love it.

And now being in High School playing D-1 just loving baseball more and more (if it's possible).
