Should the Giants move Brown to AAA for the last month of the Season ?

I wish they would, but recent history shows they won't.

Good question, but I have no idea. There are other posters here who know our farm system a lot better.

Hopefully, one of them will chime in.

They made a point of keeping Brown a whole year in San Jose, despite his crazy numbers there.

Not likely they'll make a move now, especially since he's cooled off the last week; let him make his adjustments there.

AA is the tougher league to hit in so he won't be seeing much improved pitching in AAA, he will probably go from AA to the bigs IMO

I agree. If Brown continues to have success at AA this year, I expect them to keep him there. This offseason, if the Giants can resign Melky (a big if), I don't anticipate them having any further cash for another OF, so I'm sure they'll let Pagan walk and won' t be signing a big name CF. That leaves Blanco in CF, and the rest of the OF left up to Sabean dumpster dives and minor leaguers. So I'd expect next year to be an excellent year for Brown to make the team out of spring training, challenge Blanco for CF starts, and otherwise be used of the bench.

I don't see the point. Unless the Giants want to see how he'd adjust to a new league on the fly in preparation for next year. Real question is if they bring him up to SF in September.

I guess it could depend on where we are in the standings but with that said, I would be surprised if they don't bring him up in Sept anyway...

Hey sfd,

"AA is the tougher league to hit in so he won't be seeing much improved pitching in AAA, he will probably go from AA to the bigs IMO"

I think he'll stay in Richmond for the remainder of the MiLB season, then get a call-up in September.

Then, next Spring, he'll get a Spring Training invite and compete for a job with the big club, although he'll likely start 2013 in Fresno. He's only got around 1,050 MiLB ABs at present, so he'll probably end up with about 1,100 by the end of the regular season.

My guess is a mid-2013 call-up at the earliest. A couple hundred AAA ABs ought to make the Giants a lot more comfortable with the idea of bringing him up.

Everyone has to slow down a little bit. I say this because we rushed Belt and Crawford up real fast. We want our future stars to be brought up fast so that they would be on hand to cheer for, Craw and Belt are struggling with offensive skills now, Belt has not really let it effect his defense, Craw on the other hand let his offense bring down his defense, which has become much better lately.

Everyone lets have the organization bring up Brown on a measured timetable.

Most everybody, that is down on the 2 players I mentioned earlier don't want to see them in a Giant uniform. Belt is 23 and so is Crawford. They have the pressure on their own, wanting to be major league players, I think that they will succeed in time. Most especially if they have a manager that would be a motivator, not an OR ELSE, as we have presently.

I think so too...

Yea, you're right thats exactly what they're doing. The last thing any Giants F.O. people want is for Brown to be MLB ready.

He was really slow adjusting to AA, I think they are just taking their time with him. He is still learning to steal bases, he would not be a great base stealer up here yet, rather see him down there going every time he is on base.

Speed isn't the only thing involved in stealing a base. He has 30 SB's and 14 CS's in AA, he still has some learning to do for his plus skill to be Major league ready.
