The Giants are simply not very good. Beat up on the scrubs but lose to the good teams (and no, when they faced the Dodgers, the Dodgers were not very good considering their depleted lineup). Yet another game with virtually no excitement.

What I don't like is that we have been completely shutdown 2 nights in a row by pitchers with an ERA approaching 5.

Complete games no less.

Hopefully it's just a mini slump.

2 tough roadies ahead.

These were tough losses...and having lost their momentum...series comming up...need to take 2/3 from each..at least....or this might be a short lived tenure in 1st place..

I never see you post unless they have had a couple bad games so there is something to complain about.

<They win 5-0 one game, lose the next two and now they suck against the same team?

Good teams generally beat up on the scrub teams and play even with the good teams.
So far this year.

4-2 vs. LA
3-1 vs. NY Mets
2-1 vs. Pit
1-1 vs. St. Louis
2-4 vs. Cincy
4-5 vs. Arizona lost 3 in the beginning of the year but won 2 of 3 twice
1-2 vs. Texas & Angels
About .500 which is not bad. They are able to play with them.

So just throw in the towel though we are ahead of them, and even though in the last two series with them when we have taken two of three in both series.

Cincy's pitchers' ERA is inflated by having to pitch in that bandbox. They are good pitchers. Latos got a lot of help from the ump today too.

Just the ludicrousness of this thread though. Let's follow the thread starter's false assertion that we lose all the time to good teams when we are at about .500.
Arizona is
2-5 against Atlanta
1-2 against NY Mets
1-2 against Pittsburgh
1-2 against Washington
0-3 against St. Louis

They stink against good teams, at least we play .500 against them.

They should just throw in the towel because they can't compete against good teams, nowhere near as good as we do?

Back to complaining about the Beltran trade? Are you ever going to get over this? Maybe you ought to seek some counselling about it.

Also pretty sure the trade was made in an attempt to bolster the offense and make it back to the world series not to put bums on seats as they were selling out every home game and would have continued to do so Beltran or no Beltran.

"These were tough losses...and having lost their momentum..."

I kind of figure they will be going up and down all year. This team has a whole lot of streakies, pitching and hitting....The key is to learn from all the up times so they can get it started in the appropriate time in September.

Arizona is in one of their up times... I just hope the Giants endures their shot to the top and then open up some space themselves.

Giants don't match up as well with cincinnati. But we do fine agains the rest of the leagues good teams. Our starting pitching is superior to just about everyone in the league though. Nobody else can go five deep in quality.

If it comes down to the Giants and reds in the playoffs, we will come out on top because of our pitching depth. Also, we wil punish latos like a red headed step child. When the chips are down he will go down, just like in 2010.

Come on now I wouldn't go including Zito in this quality of which you speak..

"Cincy's pitchers' ERA is inflated by having to pitch in that bandbox"

Really?

Perhaps you can explain this to me then.

Latos:

Home ERA 3.47
Road ERA 7.45

Try again.

Zito's ERA is better than 4 of 5 starting Cincy pitchers. Only Cueto has a better ERA.

It's all about the bandbox factor even when it isn't.
