To be traded to the Mets?

We need a right handed bat with pop. He has that, and it seems as though Arizona has grown weary of him.

What would it take?

I was thinking a deal that looked like this

Lucas Duda, Collin McHugh, and a mid level prospect for him?

thoughts?

I can't say as I don't really know what the mets have that they could give us (As much as I want to say Wright it just isn't realistic given his great performance this season and contract status)

Either way I don't want Upton traded. Even if he is struggling he is still putting up average at worst numbers and we all feel he is struggling despite those average numbers. He is also still very young so we can only imagine what it will be like when he finally gets it together and what he will be like in his prime and personally I would like to see that happen with the dbacks when it does finally happen. This is a guy who has already made 2 all star games at 21 and 23 years old, won a silver slugger award, been an MVP contender already and is only 24 years old still.

If the dbacks do wind up making the mistake in trading Upton I can't help but wonder if we would even get anything close to equal value back for him.

I wonder if Upton read one of my posts. I said he was always trying to put the ball through the window and onto Jefferson. Saturday just before his triple, he swung so hard I thought he was going to come out of his shoes. Next swing was just a nice smooth level swing and he hit a triple.
Sunday, same thing he just swung for contact, and almost hit for the cycle!!

I've posted several times over on the Mets MB about a trade centered on Duda. Frankly it's a joke. On most teams, including the Dbacks, Duda would be nothing more than a utility player (OF/1B). As far as McHugh, the Dbacks have at least ten pitchers in their minor league system that are better or at least as good as McHugh.

For the Mets to acquire Upton it would require one of Wheeler/Harvey (the Dbacks already have 3 SP ranked higher), Flores, and Nimmo.

Wilmer Flores, Jenrry Mejia, Jordany Valdespin, and Aderlin Rodriguez.

Eh? Eh?

Except for Flores, Waste Management wouldn't even want those guys.

Now now, Rodriguez has got some serious potential. He's got 16 HR in one of the worst hitters' parks around (It's where home runs go to die). Plus he's bad at hitting lefties, so you'd have to think it's an anomaly that will be righted in time.

Although I do agree with you for the most part, it might be why I'd be okay with them leaving...

Aderlin has 40+HR potential in the majors.

He plays in probably a worse hitting park then Petco and has 16HR in half a season.
He started the first half batting like .220 and is now up to .277

He is a righty that doesn't hit lefties.
-this will be corrected when he stops striking out on offspeed pitches down and outside

Flores is a top tier prospect
Mejia was the mets #1 prospect until he got TJ surgery. Still a very quality pitcher but moved behind Wheeler and Harvey.

(Aderlin i don't want the mets to trade because i think he is legit Stanton type power)

Where would he play though? He has a apparently good arm, so the outfield could be a place for him. I just don't want Duda 2.0.

You guys need to stop coming here trying to peddle your garbage.

On the Braves MB they were offering Teheran, Minor, Gilmartin, Bethancourt, and Pastornicky. That's three of their top five prospects and includes the guy that is considered THE top prospect in baseball.

There's concern about whether Upton has recovered from a slight tear in the labrum of his left shoulder, an injury that dates to 2006. It caused Upton to miss time in September 2010.

He had the best season of his career in 2011 and played in 159 games. Why would anyone be concerned about a shoulder injury to his non throwing arm in 2010?

Lucas Duda, Collin McHugh, and a prospect?

Let's get real and this package of:

1) an outfielder (Duda) who is clearly inferior to J Up
2) a minor league pitcher with a 4.67 ERA and losing record
3) and a "mid-level prospect"??

Is a joke. Although I can see why you as a Met's fan would love it.

At least make a proposal that makes some sense for both sides.....I personally don't even know why he would even be considered for a trade by the D-Backs who don't really even need to do so....unless the deal was soooo good that they would clearly come out on the up side of it. And this proposal............well let's just say to be polite to you Wright, doesn't qualify AT ALL.

Hey all...Cubs fan here. Arizona GM Kevin Towers has said "We're still in win mode,” so he wants MLB talent in return. How about:

Cubs trade:
-Matt Garza (SP) 28 years old, 1 more year of team control.

-Brett Jackson (OF) 23 years old. 1st round pick in 2009. He could be similar to Upton but K's more. He is currently in AAA, but could be ready soon.
http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=LF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=571804

-Josh Vitters (3B) 22 years old. 1st round draft pick in 2007. His glove is a little shaky, but is really coming into his own at the plate this season in AAA.
http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=p_pbp&pid=519388

-David DeJesus (OF) Is a good # 2 hitter, good OBP and works the count. (A stop gap until Brett Jackson gets called up)

D-Backs trade:
Justin Upton (RF)
Tyler Skaggs (P)
Evan Marshall (P) ?

Does this trade make sense for you guys? Cubs could use Justin Upton behind Anthony Rizzo and also need pitching prospects. Garza will be solid down the line and has proven success in the playoffs, Jackson could be a good replacement for Upton on your roster (can play all 3 OF spots) and 3B also seems weak for you guys. Seems like both sides could be winners in my opinion. What are your thoughts?

The thing that makes me wary is the fact that the Snakes are shopping a top talent who's under team control for so cheap and so long may indicate some injury concerns.

The only thing that has ever been said by KT is, "We will listen to any team that calls with an offer for anyone". When asked, "Even Justin"? He said, "Anyone, even Justin". It's the Media that took what was said and ran with it.

So, the team is not "shopping" Justin...Or anyone for that matter. They are taking calls, not making calls.

Those names you mention wouldn't even work for Upton straight up, much less throwing in Skaggs and Marshall. DeJesus is at best a fourth outfielder. Jackson strikes out at over 30% in the minor leagues, which would probably translate to over 35% in the Majors. Vitters isn't even in MLB top 100 prospects.
