For the number 1 pick in the draft. Being a die hard fan I always want to see us win but in this case I feel it is better for our future development to get that number one pick.

Pretty amazing how one player can change how a team performs. I realize it's a short sample but indications are good so far!

You mean the team with the great Tyler Colvin?

Well you will be disappointed because I truly think we land the #3 or #4 pick.

Not that Rizzo alone is causing this winning, but he is giving us a complete team feel.

Unless we dump all of Garza, Demp, Sori, LaHair, Soto and Marmol I think Colorado and SD compete for that #1/2 spot and we are in with Minnesota for the #3/4 picks.

I feel the same way. The lineup with Castro-Rizzo-Soriano-LaHair is too powerful to lose many games. Dale Sveum has to bench at least one of them every game to win the 2013 No.1 draft pick

Or shut down Samardzija and Wood and start Volstad, Coleman and Wells.

I hope we atleast trade some of those guys. Especially since none of them are part of the future of this team and packaged together they could bring back some good prospects. I am happy the Cubs are doing well, but I have to agree with the OP, the way this team is building I would really like to atleast get a top 3 pick.

I think you under value how much playing good and winning will help these kids. Sure that drops our pick some, but there will be value whether it be #1 or #5.

What means most is guys coming up and playing well for their confidence to continue the success.

Im hoping Vitters continues hitting well and can come up with some success. Though Im well aware of his history of struggling at first and coming around the following season! That to, would be just fine for our 3B hole.

I tend to agree with you but this year I do not think there is a real big super star player everyone wants. If you can stay in the top 5-10 you are likely to get a good player. It is hard to know who is going to be a star and who is not unless a Kerry Wood or Mark Prior comes along. I see no guys like these next year.
